Illuminations Cruise DVC Discount?

I got a discount for the Illuminations cruise. I'm pretty sure it was with my DVC - but it could have been my AP. My DH and I joined 8 other Disboard members - Patty was the one who booked it and she was, in fact, told that there were no discounts. But when we went to the window to check in, they did give us the discount. So, be sure to ask!!I can't remember if it was 10% or 20% - if you want, I can message Patty and see if she remembers....

No info on the discount but I thought that I would offer my opinion on the Illuminations Cruise.

We were disappointed, the cruise takes you around the lake between BWI and BC/YC and maybe over to DHS depending on the boat driver. To watch Illuminations you are parked under the bridge between England and France with other boats. You may be in the front or your boat may be in the rear behind another boat.

The view isn't any different than what the guests see standing on the bridge above you and in fact, they will have a better view. The lake cruse is no different than taking the Friendship boats for free.

I had a very different experience! We loved boating around, the weather was perfect (no guarantees on that though!), we had a great view, seated comfortably on our boat with the huge crowds all around us craning to see...
we didn't have any boats in front of us, I didn't notice boats sitting behind us, but there very well could have been - in which case we were just lucky.
We had 10 people in the boat, we got the discount because of my card - I think it cost us less than $40 pp even after the tip!
We loved it so much, we're treating my friends to one on Aug 17th!

we also had a 20% discount I believe through dvc. there was an ap discount as well.
you need to have the cards to get it.
as for the cruise itself -- we liked it a lot. was very relaxing. didn't have to deal with crowds and had a great time. i'm sure there are better spots to watch the fireworks but was definitely a great time

Any info on discounts would be great, we are booked for 9/5 and would love to find some discount. Just called yacht club dining, it's gonna cost almost $100 for a 12 pack so any discount will help. Thanks again.

We booked our first Illuminations cruise many years ago for the price of $60 for all of us. Of course that did not include the tip!
