Illuminations Cruise Central--AUGUST

Anyone looking to share an Illuminations Cruise during AUGUST? If you have reserved an Illuminations Cruise and are willing to share, please post your date here. Perhaps we can coordinate this and help each other out.

When you post your reply, use the subject box to tell whether you need space (and how many you need) on a cruise or if you have space available and include the dates. I think that might make it a little easier to coordinate a match.

Even with the new changes, you can still get an Illuminations Cruise

There have been some changes made in the Illuminations Cruises. First, they are no longer called Illuminations Cruises, all of the fireworks cruises at WDW are known as "Specialty Cruises" because they cannot guarantee that you will see Illuminations.

There are also daytime "Specialty" cruises. They are booked at two hour intervals beginning at 12 noon. In order to have a chance to see Illuminations, you will need to call 407-WDW-PLAY 90 days in advance and request the 8:00 PM cruise, telling them that you hope to see Illuminations (or the Magic Kingdom fireworks). They will then schedule your cruise for 1/2 hour prior to the beginning of Illuminations.

Why can't they guarantee that you will see Illuminations? These cruises last 45 minutes, only. If, for some reason, Illuminations is delayed, your boat will still return to the marina when 45 minutes have passed, whether or not Illuminations has finished.

There are six of us (two families) -- four adults, two teen boys. Looking to share an Illuminations pontoon boat during the first week of August. (Actually any night from 7/31 - 8/6, except for Wednesday, 8/3)

Our trip to AKL is August 6-13th. 2 Adults, DD12, DD6. Our first trip to WDW!

Right now, our night time conflicts would be Sunday the 7th at Fantasmic and Wednesday the 10th at Hoop Dee Doo.

The 11th would probably work out best for us, but we are flexible.

If anyone needs 4 extra, please let me know. All boat reservations are full so far that week, but the 11th does not take PS/AR until tommorrow morning...

PS - is the viewing of Illuminations bad from shore or hard to get good seats? Where are the best spots to view from shore and how early do we stake out the good spots?

By this time last month, the July Illuminations Cruise thread had 26 posts. As of today, August has five.

Now, that can mean one of two things -- either July is going to be a very crowded month at WDW, or August is not going to be nearly as busy.

I know that August does tend to slow down after the 2nd week or so, but I'm surprised by the difference in these two threads.

Anybody else think this is sort of strange?

I got a boat I actually ended up with 2 boats for August 21st but just cancelled one (7:15am) both for illuminations. I feel like I won the lottery.

Hi, We managed to book both the breathless and a pontoon for the same day, Tuesday August 23rd. We have decided to keep the breathless and are going to cancel the pontoon. If you would like a shot at scheduling the cruise PM me and we can arrange a time that I will cancel it and I will tell you when to call in to schedule it. Not a perfect system, but hopefully I can get this cruise to a fellow DISer that wasnt as lucky as us to get it booked.
