Illuminations Cruise and tipping

We have an Illluminations Cruise booked for our first night and I would like to know the appropriate amount to tip.

I suppose it would depend on how many people are sharing the cruise and how great your captain is.

We had only 4 people, our captain was wonderful and we tipped him $30 (I think--it was in 2000 and I'm getting older, my memory could be faulty).

Family of 5 and we were the only ones on the boat in Oct. 2000, had the special birthday cruise package..it was great since we were under the International bridge (?) and the Cpt. got the whole crowd, waiting for the show, to sing happy birthday to my then 8 year old while we were underneath them..PRICELESS !!!

On one cruise the captain did something very special for our grandchild; so, we tipped accordingly. Most of the time $35 to $40 should cover a pretty filled up boat.
