Has anyone noticed that they use Illuminations Fireworks in Wishes? These includes the purple ones that go boom in three directions and the white curly ones. Just something I noticed. We have always preferred Illuminations (with wishes as a close second) because it is more polished.

we have always like Ecpot's fireworks better. Have seen wishes many times, it is good and the music is great still not the same as Ecpot's.
Even our kids will wait for the Ecpot fireworks and see everynight they can. As a list Ecpot first, second and three then Wishes.
Still it is Disney just seeing one of their fireworks makes the trip special.

We have always loved Illuminations. It's just the most beautiful show. However, Wishes has a totally different meaning for us, so we love it just as much. We even have them on video so we can watch them at home.

You are so right about memories. Maybe that is why we love epcot fireworks so much. This is the first one our family saw toghter and we also was lucky to get a fireworks cruise boat that night.

We have always preffered Illuminations. I think it's a nicer show, and the choreography is better.

I love both shows, but I like Illuminations a bit better than Wishes.

Wishes has more fireworks overall, and some impressive effects that Illuminations doesn't have. Also, in Wishes, there is lesss "down time" between fireworks, unlike the current version of Illuminations, which has a 5-6 minute period without any fireworks at all.

However, Illuminations feels more "immediate" to me, as you are closer to the action. Also, I think the music for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is the single best piece of music at the entire WDW resort. Wishes has a nice main theme and good compilation of classic Disney tunes, but it doesn't compare with the pure power of Gavin Greenaway's original composition for RoE.

1) Most place the sequence of best fireworks shows as
. . . Fantasmic!
. . . Illuminations
. . . Wishes
2) And, yes, there are some shells in common with all shows.

Judging by the responses here "most" like Illuminations better. :) (Count me in with most, Illuminations is my fav as well.)

Plus, Fantasmic really isn't a fireworks show. It has fireworks, but those aren't the main part of the show like they are in the other two.

WISHES is by far and away my favorite event at WDW. It totally captures the magic of Disney. It is the best. My order:
1. WISHES
2. Fantasmic!
3. Illuminations

Add me to the Illuminations crowd. I love Wishes as well but the music and the globe & torches set Illuminations apart. I'm sad, however, to learn that Illuminations will be changed for the Epcot 25th anniversary celebration. In my opinion, they can't improve on the current Illuminations so why try.

Where did you hear / read about the changes to Illuminations?

Wishs is just so magical! I love it. I'm sure WDW uses the same fireworks for a lot of stuff. The same team was probally used for both shows...
