Not sure if this belongs on dining or here, If we get reservations at R & C so we can watch Illuminations from the balcony is 7:40 a good time or to late? Illuminations doesn't start until 9:30 in December. TIA

I think it's fine, but would try to make it later. You can, after all, eat after Illuminations ends. Remember that you don't neen an outside table-you can go out anyway.

I think it is a little early. You'll have a lot of time to kill. :)

We were there last December. We had an ADR at Rose & Crown for 8pm, had to wait about 20 minutes and were just finishing our meal when Illuminations started at 9:30.

Just stretch it out. ours are at 8 and we asked the CM who took our reservation if we were going to have trouble staying in the restaurant to see Illuminations with that timeframe. She said it's no problem, any time around there they know you're staying. :)

We had 730 res a few times and it worked out well...we told our server that we were planning on staying for the show. No probs, great time.

Get a :drinking1 and enjoy.

I also think your ADR's are too early..I would shoot for more like 8:30 or 8:45. That way, you will be able to eat and watch the show.

Just take your time eating....it's perfect timing IMO.....you should just about have finished your dinner and be waiting for desert.....that is, unless you like to eat in 30 mins.

Several years ago I had an ADR for about that time and the desk basically told me that we would not be able to keep the table for Illuminations. We said OK and went ahead and got seated.

We then ordered a few beers, and a our meal. This SOMEHOW took over 2 hours. I PROMISE it was NOT our fault, we made NO effort to delay, we ate at our normal speed, we just had the worlds SLOWEST waiter LOL! After Illuminations we basically had to tackle the guy to get our check. We waited over an hour for our meal etc... It was just funny! (I have no idea why we didn't complain, but ...)

How long does it take to eat in a restaurant? Lets say an hour. So if your done by 845 or 9, youre all set. Kinda hard to watch while eating anyway. Dont worry about using the table as you'll be the last seating at that table for the night anyway.

That time of year with CP Packages, it may take awhile to get seated. Last year, we had a 7:20 reservation, Illuminations was at 9:00. We requested an outside table and were not seated until 8:00. There were lots of people waiting for tables. If you wait until 8:30 or 8:45 and there's a 15 to 30 minute wait, you may not get an outside table because people who have them aren't moving.

Dan, your pictures are beautiful.

Our party of 8 (may end up being 6) has a 7:20 p.m. reservation on October 9th at R&C. You have me excited and VERY hopeful that I'll be able to get an outdoor table for Illuminations. Now I'm wondering - how many tables are there with this terrific view?

Thanks in advance.
Kathy

Thanks Dan for the beautiful pictures and thanks to all for the advice. I guess I'll leave my 7:40 reservation alone and hope for the best. I'll eat very slow and pick one of each item off the menu. popcorn:: I have eaten out there during the day but never during Illuminations.

I wouldn't count on that. Typically, the tables with a view of the show are filled by 7:45 or 8:00, and no one sitting in those tables then are going to be leaving before 9:00. While you can probably get later ADRs, you'll almost surely be seated inside, and therefore won't be able to watch the show and eat at the same time.

I took your advise from another posting on this board and made our seating for 7:30 for Oct 30th. I'm very excited about this!

That's what I was thinking. That's why I did the 7:40 reservation. To early and they will want us to leave (I don't blame them) to late and no table outside available. So much planning so little time. ;)
