Sometimes I love the search feature, and sometimes it drives me crazy. So, sorry to ask what I know has already been discussed, but I can't find it...

What are the current models at the Doorway to Dreams in Illinois? AKV or BLT? We're really interested in seeing the BLT models.

Also, what else do you do there?

Thanks!

Doorway to Dreams currently shows the BLT models. It is an off-site sales center and you go there to tour the models with a sales guide and make your purchase. They recently opened their second one in Long Island, NY. :)

Pixieflip--just a word from the wise. If you go, you will buy. :upsidedow That's where we bought BOTH our AKV and BLT. The first time (when they used to have AKV models) we stumbled in "just to look" while shopping at the mall and ended up buying. We were the easiest sale that our Guide probably ever had! When we bought BLT we "only stopped in" to look at the BLT models--no intention of buying because we'd seen the pics and video on-line and weren't impressed. Seeing is believing. Plus the nice thing is that you don't have to take time from you WDW vacation to visit--you can go whenever you want and take a look. If they ever change out the rooms to a new location again--I'm going to have to avoid Woodfield Mall for sure!! ;)

In answer to your other question, you really just tour--and talk to a guide. There aren't any other "activities"--except they do provide childcare while you're talking with your guide.

Okay, thanks so much! The Disney website shows it as an AKV model, but I thought I'd read here that they were BLT. I'm glad...we really want to stop by but might not have time when we go in December. We are owners at Vero and already love our DVC. Who knows what might happen if we love BLT! :lmao:

We used to live in Chicago and only went to Woodfield once a year as a special treat. It's 294 to 290 to Higgins Road and then follow the signs, right? I think I remember how to do it. And then park by Nordstroms, right? 3 weeks away, can't wait!

Grr.... I called the phone number on the website which connected me to the DVC people in Orlando for some stupid reason and they told me they were still AKV. Freakin morons!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Well we stopped in there today after the DTD Anniversary party and I can verify it is still BLT.... :)

I believe you... I'm just ticked the person gave me the wrong info on the phone when they should have known better. That was an extremely bad day and a visit to see the BLT rooms would have helped a lot.

CarolAnnC - what did you think of the Anniversary Party? I was quite disappointed. We had gone in February (without the DH), and had so much fun that we went again this weekend since we were in Chicago for the Harry Potter exhibit. There were maybe 100 people at the 1:00 p.m. show on Sunday.

I'd like to know as well. We went in February and it was awesome. Of course it was DH's birthday and they made a point of saying so. :rotfl: We did not go this time. :guilty: I miss it! Can't wait to go next month!

This party was not sponsored by corporate DVC. It was completely put on by the DTD staff alone. They did not do the large general mailing as corporate would have done, either. So it was anticipated to be a smaller scale, and primarily to lure new members in to purchase BLT. I go as I always like a DVC fix and try to keep up on any and all events to share with our posters here. Plus, I always enjoy seeing Derek and company lol...

That being said, I think they did a fantastic job! :)

Hey, Carol, I was glad to hear we weren't the only ones left out. I didn't receive an invitation but found out about the party and, figuring it was an oversight, registered. Because I thought it was weird we didn't get any communication, I called my guide (who is at DTD) and he said it was really only for "prospects" so we cancelled and didn't go. I could have used a DVC fix, as well, but didn't want to take up someone else's space. Now I'm kicking myself for not going, as we were IN Woodfield that Saturday morning anyway. Seemed strange they would hold an anniversary party and not include current members. Good for for going anyway. Wish we had.
