I was in Walmart yesterday to check out the $15 and $13 and $9 Disney DVD's and $19.95 Blu-rays.

One of the DVD's on sale for either $9 or $13 was Emperor's New Groove.

  1. It did not have the cardboard sleeve that most of the other Disney movies have.
  2. There was no "movie rewards" logo on it.
  3. The cover printing looked a bit faded (not really bad, but almost as if it had been out in the sun for a day or three).
  4. Most interestingly was a stamp on the back in about 10 font blue ink that said "Made in Mexico."
Was this a legal copy? It seems odd that Walmart would have bootlegged copies, but it was almost IDENTICAL to the ones we saw at a flea market a few weeks ago that were selling for $4 each.

We didn't get it for fear of supporting Piracy. We love the Disney brand and would hate to see it ruined. Also, if fake it may not work.

Highly unlikely you'd find a pirated copy at Walmart. Perhaps it was a legit Disney issue from Mexico?

most dvds are manufactured in Mexico (does Walmart even offer anything made in the US anymore?).
I am sure it was legit

To me it appears that someone stole a copy of the DVD/Blu-ray and placed a bootlegged case in it's place, but nor positive. Ask an associate at wal-mart to check. Also this will notify them just incase it may be fake.
