We were driving down to WDW last month from N.C. Our kids 3 & 6 were driving us CRAZY - fighting, whining, are we there yet, I have to go the bathroom, he looked at me, she stuck her tongue out...My DH finally said about mid-Georgia "I'll turn this car around and there will be NO Disney World". I chuckled to myself at his remark. Has anyone ever REALLY "turned the car around"? Just Curious.

well sort of... our trip really wasn't for another 2 weeks but they sure were well behaved in the car when we went for real!:earsgirl:

turned the car right around........... We didn't have to back track very far before the children understood their behavior was not acceptable. We only had to do this once......:D

I told my kids once that if they didn't stop fighting they would walk home, they kept on fighting so a block from home I told them to get out of the car and walk home. At first they didn't think I would really make them walk, but I did. They held hands and slowly walked down the street together and I didn't hear another peep out of them for a long time after that. They were 11 and 6 at the time.

I never turned the car around but I have left stores . My Mom told me years ago that you should never threaten kids with something that you aren't prepared to follow through with and it worked!!!

My kids knew that if I said it I WOULD do it!!

They never had to turn the car around because there was "The Restaurant Incident".

I was about 8 or 9 and we were in a restaurant...probably a Howard Johnsons, as we went there when I was a kid because it was family friendly. Anyhow, I was acting up unacceptably, even for a family friendly restaurant, and my mother said "if you act up one more time, you and I are going to sit in the car whille Daddy and Bobby(my brother)finish their meal". Silly me, I didn't believe her, acted up again and spent the rest of the dinner meal in the car with my mother, who just reprimanded for the entire time we sat in the car waiting for my father and brother to finish. And I swear, they had a full meal, soup to nuts plus dessert, because it seemed like it took a LONG time.

I learned a very important lesson that day...if they said it, they meant it.

My dad would normally say those words, minus the Disney World part and vear off to the side of the road. He would stop the car, sometimes even get out of the car. It always worked, we all zipped our mouths and on we went. Must I note, I really did believe him.

I have never turned the car around, but I have had to walk my DS (4) back to the entrance and out of the park (very very briefly) before his attitude changed.

Actually my girls are a lot better when on a trip. I guess that is why DH and I are always longing for another mini or long vacation.

Oh yeah, I've turned around and went home before. Not the trip to disney, my kids turned into angels that trip. lol But on other small ones. Especially when I was babysitting and had other kids, they never thought I meant it.
