On our trip to disney my son will be having his 5th birthday. I want to do something nice that he will remember and tell everyone about for years to come any ideas.

I come to you as the Disney experts if anyone can think of anything let me know. Thanks:wizard:

Our son had a birthday at WDW.A character breakfast is a must.(See the signiture photo Birthday boy is in Mickey's arms)We did this by getting a letter addressed to our son delivered to the hotel room inviting him to have breakfast with MICKEY MOUSE.(we did the letter on a computer and printed the card)We booked the character breakfast in advance with WDW.(we used chef Mickey)After we went to Animal Kingdom.(stop into Guest relations they will give you a birthday badge.we finished our day with a Birthday meal at the Rainforest Cafe.(Again you can book this through WDW) My son enjoyed his day and drifted off to a very happy sleep. Hope this gives you some ideas

Your very welcome i hope the celebration goes well.Weather in ENGLAND is cold and wet.Looking Forward to Aug 2007 and WDW magic and Sun.

We celebrated our son's 5th on a Disney Cruise last year. A DISer sent the boys postcards before our trip. DS5 got one from Mickey - and the guy who sent it did a fabulous Mickey signature. The card said something like - Hear you're going to spend your birthday with me. Can't wait to see you. Your Pal, Mickey." Very simple.

I underestimated the impact. DS5 told everyone about his postcard. He talked about it for weeks. He talked about how he was going to see Mickey and they were going on a cruise together for his birthday to anyone who would listen. We visited the parks for a couple of days before the cruise and he was very focused on Mickey. We did visit with Mickey at AK, but he didn't seem to be into it.

On the cruise - we had our Character breakfast right off. He refused leave until Mickey got there (we were the next to last table Mickey visited). He was adamant about this - even though we'd already visited with Mickey at AK. When Mickey came up - he gave him a big hug. And thanked him for the postcard. Then said goodbye and left.

There's a Pay It Forward thread in the Parks and Attractions board (I think) where you can get a postcard sent ahead of time. The guy with the super Mickey signature is Veranda Guy who spends his time over on the DCL board. He's a local to WDW and sends a lot of postcards. The deal with Pay It Forward is you have to volunteer to send postcards for someone else during your trip. We sent 6 - it was really fun.

The Family Magic Tour is a lot of fun. We did it when DD was 6 and DS was 4. They loved it and still talk about it often.

Also tell the resort you are staying at that you are celebrating his b-day and most of the time they will send up a card and balloons to your room. Have a great time!!!!

They also have different pirate cruises that he can go on. It's kid's only but I've only heard good reviews on them. They cost $28 and serve him a luch. He would also get a micky pirate bandana. We are doing this next week... pirate:

For our DS7 we celebrated at Chef Mickey's on our first day. We brought our Mickey birthday hat (the sameone from the parks) from home. We told them when we made our ADR's that it was his birthday. He got a special place mat and cupcake. The guy in charge of taking the Chef Mickey's pictures brought him out a birthday pin with is name on it. We also gave him some money in Disney Dollars that he could buy his present from us with.
That's really all we did. He was really thrilled about it and still talks about having his birthday at WDW.

We're doing the same thing for our DD1 she'll turn 2 the day we arrive at WDW. We have a dinner adr for CM on our first day and I mentioned it when I made the adr that it would be her birthday. Also our travel agent called WL and they said about 1 week prior to our arrival call back and they will note it that its her bday and a card and balloon will be sent to our room. Plus we can order a bday cake at the same time at our expense of course.

WDW is a great place to celebrate a bday! Have fun!

My son turned 9 in Disney World in July. We went to Epcot that day, and had already been to all the other parks. I got a birthday badge in each park, and he wore them all on his actual birthday. I also ordered him a personalized shirt on Ebay. Everyone stopped him and made a big deal out of it. I had requested the Goofy birthday message as our wake up call, but he was too tired to remember it. I had to tell him about it on the bus to Epcot. In Canada, one of the shop workers asked him if he'd gotten his birthday card. He told her he did but didn't remember it. She said, "I think the phone is ringing now. It must be for you." She punched a button on the phone, then handed it to him. It was Goofy!

We had his supper at Garden Grill. I had them note his birthday when I made the reservation. The characters all spent alot of time with us. Dale brought us a cake instead of the regular dessert platter (no extra charge), and a signed card from all the characters.

I left a tip envelope every day with notes about Nicholas's birthday being Thursday. When we got back to the room, there were balloons and a signed card from Mickey and Minnie. Now, he is a very smart 9 yr old. But he still talks about Mickey coming to his room on his birthday!:goodvibes
