Just had to share the news with you guys. Dwayne & I were married last Monday at the Osceola Courthouse while on a trip to Disney! Our Disney wedding is in May. Dwayne is in the Army & unfortunately they don't recognize engagements. In order for me to be able to make the cross country move (NY to TX) we needed to have a marriage certificate. I shared the intent to get married with my immediate family (and best friend!) and after their blessings we figured we would make a Disney Trip out of it. Dwayne just returned from a 1 year Tour in Korea & I am thrilled to have him back on US soil.

Monday - February 27, 2006

Woke up about 8am, got dressed & ready to go to the courthouse. 9am - got a call from Emily at Charming Events, she had a delivery for us. She arrived at our OKW suite within a few minutes. My Mom & Sister had contacted her so I would have a bouquet for our courhouse wedding (So sweet of them) This also gave me a chance to meet Emily for the first time! She is so Sweet & our flowers were gorgeous.

The whole process was smooth & went by so quick (we were married in less than 30 min!!!) The woman that helped us at the courthouse was so sweet!

We then went to a PS at 240 at Le Cellier, walked around EPCOT for a bit & headed over to Wishes that evening. It was a very perfect & romantic day just the two of us!

And now we still have our Fairytale Wedding to look forward to!!

My Shower is today...can't wait!

Congratulations, and another wedding day to look forward to :goodvibes

That is so exciting...CONGRATULATIONS!!
You two looked so cute and the flowers are beautiful. That was so sweet of your mom and sister.

Congratulations!!

If I may offer a piece of advice: I would tell your guests attending the wedding that you're already married and why. No one will think any less of the actual wedding, but some people might be very hurt and angry if they find out afterwards.

This happened to friends of mine. For immigration reasons they had to marry about six months early before their planned wedding (or vow renewal, I guess). The kept it a secret and then they annouced at their reception that they were already married. Rather than be happy for them there were several remarks about being "tricked" and "fooled" and even some really nasty ones about the couple just wanting the gifts. I think if they had been upfront and honest to all their guests this could have been avoided. Everyone would have known why they were there and that they were witnessing a vow renewal, not the actual wedding ceremony. I don't think anyone begrudged the couple the right to a wedding with all the pomp and ceremony, but several people were hurt that the couple didn't trust them with the truth.

All that aside, CONGRATULATIONS again!! You must be so happy!! :sunny:

ohh, congratulations katie! im so happy for you. sounds like you had a great day & i love the hidden mickeys in your flowers.

the whole secret wedding, so romantic. will you be moving before or after your may disney wedding?

best wishes from greg & i.

How wonderful, congratulations to the both of you!! The flowers are beautiful too, how sweet that was! You both look so happy

Congrats--that is so awesome!! It is a really hard decision for military couples--my dad has done that for several military couples in the last couple years...IN FACT, he had to leave my at home reception to go do one couple's vow renewal (they wanted the same judge to do both)--it was my fault because I didn't clear the date with him and they had booked him a year ahead! :)

That is so cool! As the years have passed, I have often wished that our wedding day consisted of just DH and I. Not that I didn't love my wedding, but I think all the activity takes away from the meaning of the vows because you are worried about so many other things.

I'm looking forward to a private vowel renewal, so that I can look into his eyes and tell him just how much I love him!

Though not at Disney, we did this for our 5th anniversary and also our 10th anniversary. I have to say, I cried both times because it was so meaningful. We considered making our upcoming renewal for just us as well... but when we considered going to Disney without our children, it just didn't seem "right". I highly recommend a private renewal at some point for every couple. It truly does give that innoculation of "You're the ONLY one for me... ALWAYS!!!!" into your marriage. ~Ev :)

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! I definitely agree that this was the right way for you guys to do things. This way you are recognized as married earlier, but you still get your Disney wedding! Still can't wait to hear about your "real" wedding!
