A bit off topic, but I have been thinking about you as I am reading a book by Susan Wiggs, which is about upstate NY and takes place in a town called Avalon--not sure if it is real or ficticious.

It is a fiction/romance and not sure if that is a interest of yours.
There are 6 books in the series, and you should be able to find all but the last new one at used book sales.

They make me think of you because of the place they are written in, which is a small town -- and very isolated, which reminds me of the place you must be at in NY.

Still no luck up here - and still no luck for my DD and her family down there.. I'm so glad you were finally able to find it!! Did you get the mist or the shot?

DD's poor DH is so worried about me having to stay here when the weather turns colder.. He came up with a few ideas that would "button things up" a bit, but still not well enough for me to stay when the daytime temps don't get out of the 20's (which fortunately is not happening yet).. He called from work this morning to make sure all was well up here - that I wasn't too cold; my car was still starting okay; I still had plenty of food and water; and wasn't feeling isolated.. He's such a sweetheart..

I told him I'm fine - and if it was as easy to "make" a quilt as it is to create unique designs on paper, I'd have 50 different variations completed by now - LOL.. It's too bad I don't have those materials up here right now, but I'm never at a loss for things to do.. When I get tired of that, I have some really neat (and VERY large) jigsaw puzzles here I can work on..

I am hoping you and your family can get it soon. According to our department of health they are receiving a huge number of shots this week, so be on the look out for it in your area.

I love jigsaw puzzles and they can keep you occupied for hours. Have fun designing your quilts and disboarding.

.... still nothing - not even at the various health departments..

Keep calling and calling and calling the health depts. I found ours there, including that when we called they only had the mist but while we were there they got the shot form in. It went so fast to the priority people who were lucky enough to be there, recieve a call, or happened to call in and speak to someone during that time, that it never even was added to their tape recorded info that they had it.

Goodluck and stay warm!!! I bet it is beautiful up there....tell the dear hello. (I'll get to do that myself this weekend - going hiking in the Shenendoah Mountains!)
