I'll be mostly MIA for a little while..

I agree with all the previous statements. I hope things start to look up for you both real soon :flower3:

David, I am praying for you and your DP, have been for a couple of years actually. Tell your DP that many people care what's going on and we hope he stays in remission for a long time.

We love you both bunches and hope you guys get settled into your new place and start a new chapter in your lives. Better days are always ahead and each day you wake to a new day...just take what comes and go to bed knowing you awake to another new day...one day at a time!

You know who I am......remember the homemade apple butter? Get in touch with me soon!

God bless!

Hey everyone, back to work so I thought I'd check in :)

We found a place and got moved in over the past few days. We're renting (with option to buy) a place a bit further from Disney, in Winter Haven. Ok, it's not really Winter Haven, as it's only 7 miles from the Haines City Devil Shop (aka Wal Mart), but that's what the address has listed :rotfl: At least it's only 15 minutes further from work. :thumbsup2

Rent is actually going to be $50 cheaper at the new place, and it's about 800 sq ft bigger. Utilities should be cheaper too, since the old place had a faulty AC and not much insulation, so my power bill was about $300 a month if I wanted the house cooler than 85 degrees :scared1:

The only catch is that the home is in a 55+ community, and they only allow people over 40 to live there. So basically my DP lives there, and I just visit a lot ;)

David-

Glad the move went well, and you and your DP are getting settled in. I hope things are starting to turn around for the better!
I'll stop by to say hi in a few weeks!

I am so very sorry to learn that your DP was diagnosed with cancer! :guilty:

You have certainly been living through some very terrible times. Please know that we are thinking of you and hoping that all works out for you. :grouphug:

Take care now.

Glad to hear that you found a new place. It sounds promising! Good luck with everything!!

hey David - I've been scarce around here and missed this originally. I'm so sorry for all of the troubles! How sad! The Health Insurance in this country needs to be fixed so this kind of thing doesn't happen!

Anyway I'm glad you found a place and I wish you and DP all the best!
:thumbsup2

Our insurance is actually pretty good. It costs us about $200 a month for doctors/treatments, but the bill is about $10,000 a month.

The $200 hurts enough as it is, I cant imagine paying the full cost :scared1:

David,
I have not been checking the boards as much and just ran across this. So sorry to hear things went bad for you. But hopefully, everything is turning around for you and your partner. The situation reminded me of Wal when he seemed to have lost it all, but he kept a positive attitude about it. I can't find the exact quote right now but it was something like, everyone should have a great failure to challenge them to do better.

Hopefully, this will all work out the best for you and your partner. I'm glad that it does appear somethings are already the better for you.

Scott

ConcK, I just read this thread--I had no idea things were that rough! I hope the new place works out and that things start improving.

Conck.....I hear you on the cancer thing.. hate it. My DH has Pancreatic and we are gearing up to do battle again in September.. We are lucky he is still here as this one does not usually have a good outcome, we have been doing this for 3 years.. I hope your partner does well.. hugs to him and you.

And health insurance, someone pass me the soapbox.. I pay out of pocket as DH is now retired because he is ill, just for me.. drumroll please, 790 dollars a month with a $1000 deductible.. DH has Medicare and an extra policy which we pay around 200 for... so over a $1000 out of pocket for us.. I know it is all relative, but they need to do something and soon..

I actually want the healthcare plan that the US Senators and Reps have, that will never happen, but they have a great plan and we are paying with our taxes.

For everyone dealing with health issues I send all my love and support. I have been paying OOP for my heavy metal chelation because it's not covered by my insurance (a couple of thousand of dolllars), I just payed over $1000 for my DD medical (she's 22) because she has no insurance...not to mention helping my older daughter with her medical bills. It just stinks to high heaven and infuriates me that our goverment is so well covered but us peons can rot...

Who wants the soapbox next???

(passing...)

Oh Rosie, hugs.. I hear you..

I just did the battle from (you know where and it is not heaven) with shingles.......great, I thought I had never had chicken pox and that is what my Mom told me but in order to get shingles, you have to have had chicken pox.

This is a suggestion, if your doctor offers the shingle vaccine, take it. You do not want this, it is like the worst.....oh and I got to pay for this painful episode and many doctor appts because..........I had not reached my deductible. I could pay over $1000 a month for medical and have a $500 deductible, but it is so much fun to just pay for insurance and then pay for everything else as well until you reach the $1000. See if you are healthy, you just get to pay and pay and pay unless you have something catastrophic happen and end up hospitalized because they have this down to a science, you never reach the $1000 if you have a healthy year..... Also, how about if you take medication, that is fun... I like it when I am behind the people who pay $3 for a prescription and I am paying $35. grrrrrrrrr

Passing the soapbox....oops sorry about hijacking, hugs to Conc..

How are things going ConcKahuna? Any relief in sight for you and your DP? :sad1:

Yup! Things are doing much better!

The new place is working out GREAT! Only 10 minutes further from work, but we've found some great shops and whatnot in downtown Winter Haven that we love (one is Macs Meats, super cheap butcher shop).

It will also be 100% paid off and ours in 5 years :)

After the stress of the move, work, and all that jazz I'm home sick today (exhaustion and allergies combined to make me not so pleasant in the morning LOL), but otherwise it's all good :thumbsup2

Wow! David, I'm so sorry to hear of the troubles and trials you've been through and wish there is something I would have been able to do.
I'll be down there in Sept, I'm pretty sure on the 5th (my Birthday) I'll be in Epcot most of the day by myself, DH will be at the Richard Petty Driving School most, if not all of the day. See if you can make it in the park and I'll treat you to a few meals or drinks. ;) PM me, let me know.

Ach! Sorry to hear that all the stress has taken its toll! Good to know though that the new living arrangements are working out. :goodvibes

Hope you feel better soon!
