ILL and Rider Swap Question

If I purchase an ILL, but I have kids with me and plan to do rider swap, do I need to buy an ILL for the kids even if they won't be riding? I know that you need to make them Genie+ selections even if doing rider swap and you previously had to book them FastPasses in the same situation, but it seems like a waste to spend money on them for a ride they aren't even riding.

If the child won’t be entering the line (either they’re too short to ride or someone will wait with them outside the ride), they won’t need an ILL$ (but of course the person who waits with them will, assuming they’ll ride). If they’re tall enough to ride but simply don’t want to, many times the entire party can go through the line together, and the swap is done at the loading dock, which means they will need an ILL$ in order to go through the line. IOW, everyone who enters the line must have an ILL$ whether they ride or not.

Thanks. Both of mine are tall enough to ride everything, but they are too scared of anything halfway thrilling..

I guess I'll just have someone wait with them outside and we'll take turns going through the line.

That should work fine, since everyone riding will have ILL$ and can go through the fast line. Rider swap was developed back when all lines were standby, so that while the first group of riders might be in line for quite some time (e.g., Space Mountain for 2 hours), the ones who waited with the kids went through quickly.
