Il Mulino - good for kids?

Hi everyone! My family and I are heading to the Dolphin Hotel early this summer for vacation. While I've eaten at Il Mulino years and years ago, I don't remember if it's kid friendly. Has anyone taken young kids there, or have you seen kids there? Do they hand out crayons or anything special for kids? I have a 5 year old boy who enjoys pasta, and is well-behaved in restaurants, but the ambiance looks very upscale, that's why I ask. Thanks in advance.

Though I've not taken a child to Il Mulino, I've seen numerous children in there. I believe there's a kids menu; additionally, they offer small plates of most (all?) of their pasta dishes, so that's an option, too. We enjoy the small plates ourselves, actually. The ambiance is more of a casual upscale so very convivial at times. I wouldn't hesitate to take a well-behaved child there.

It did feel more upscale but they definitely welcomed kids. There were a few toddlers while we were there and it was not a problem. I don’t specifically remember crayons but they did have a kids menu. Also, when they bring you the after dinner drink( can’t remember the name) they bring lemonade for the kids in the same glasses so everyone can toast!

Il Mulino is a somewhat sophisticated atmosphere, but it really depends on the particular children. If you've got concerns, Trattoria al Forno may be a great option as well.

When we were there in October, there were several tables with kids near us. They seemed to have fun. It is more upscale than Trattoria or Tutto Italia, so depending on your kids, pick accordingly.

You will see many families at Il Mulino. I wouldn't hesitate bringing your child there.

You can certainly bring children to Il Mulino. Just be aware that the restaurant is a bit more up-scale than a theme-park restaurant and although they have a childs menu they actually aim more for the adult/convention crowd.

You can feel comfortable taking kids to any restaurant in Disney property for dinner except Victoria and alberts.

With that being said I would say Il Mulino is one of the least kid friendly restaurants in Disney world.

That's great info. Last time I was there, I was a kid, but in elementary school, and I remember liking it. Our reservation is for 5 pm, so hoping that helps, and it's also the weekend before July 4th, so it'll probably be more of a family crowd. Thanks!

Trattoria was my first choice, but not sure we'll have the energy to leave the hotel for dinner, after a day at the Magic Kingdom. I may change my mind though, we'll see!

I'm not making any ADR's but Il Mulino is one of those places I hope fits into one of our evenings. I really want to try their pasta with mushrooms (I forget the name). It'll be DD12 and myself. We are staying at BWV so we shall see!

You can always make a reservation with OpenTable, and those are usually available a day or so out depending on the time of year. So, that would make the possibility of being a bit more spontaneous possible, perhaps.

I almost hate to share this, because I feel like it's our secret (even though we found out about it on disboards ), but do you know about Camp Dolphin? They offer 2 hours free childcare with dinner receipt from Il Mulino! Google "Camp Dolphin Disney" and you'll see the info.

We did it last year and our kids loved it. They even got a free dinner there.

Another advantage of using Open Table is that there is no credit card/24 cancellation policy in effect.

If you decide to drive to the Swan for Il Mulino, they validate parking.

The food at Il Mulino is about 900 times better than the Trattoria. If you’re in north Jersey, you’ll find Il Mulino is just as good as what you find at home.
