IKEA return policy

I am sick to my stomach. I bought the wrong size blinds for our sunroom. I only need to exchange them. It is about $300 worth.

I keep reading online that there are no refunds OR exchanges without a receipt along with horror stories from those trying to do it.

Has anyone successfully exchanged without a receipt?

I have spent over 2 hours this morning looking for the darn thing and think it may have accidentally gotten thrown away.

IKEA is an hour or so away from me, so I don't really feel like "trying" just to see if I don't have to. I can call but I gotta say, I know it always depends on WHO you talk to when you call.

Just thought I would ask if anyone here has been able to do it.

Yes you can!! I returned a lamp at IKEA without a receipt and they gave me store credit in the form of a gift card!

Yep, they'll do store credit for us several times.

Guess what? I just found the receipt after almost THREE HOURS of looking. I had thrown it in our bedroom trash can! Thank goodness I am a lousy housekeeper!

Man I hate it when this happens....it really put me in a panic.

As an FYI, we recently had a mattress warranty issue, and didn't have the receipt. I brought the bank statement (printed out from the bank website) and several possibilities of last 4 digits of the card we would have used, and the employees actually scoured the computer and FOUND my purchase from 5 years before. Then they printed out the invoice for me so I had it when I could bring the mattress up. (and then we got a FULL refund, on a giftcard, of the mattress price, because it was absolutely unusuable and squashed after less than 5 years...hubby found it so uncomfortable after TWO years that he liked the couch better....LOVE that warranty!)

Anyway, just saying that they do keep records and, at least in western WA, and at least with a big purchase like a mattress (though the other little things like $5 lamps were also on my invoice), they will work with you to find your purchase!

A friend of mine recently tried to return something without a receipt and they would not take it. Not even a store credit. They went home and looked some more and found the receipt
