Last weekend, I went to IKEA for the first time. I could have gotten lost in there. OMG. :goodvibes

I'm been searching online photos for inspiration for a office/craft room. One blog showed photos and one was some kind of IKEA design planner software where you pick the cabinet & place it in the room or on the wall.

I've been unable to find such a planner online? Am I missing it? Or is this a software CD I had to get at the store? Its a really long ride back to the store. Also a bit of a concern to me if I end up doing this project and forget a hinge, fastener, leg or something.

I've found a kitchen tool. I'm looking for the PAX tool or one to do office / workspaces.

It's right on the Ikea website. Was this for the wardrobe systems you were looking at?

Here are the Kitchen & Pax wardrobe planners:

Under Living Rooms, click on "How To" in the left column.

Bedroom, click on Guides & PLANNERS:

Have fun. Make sure you save your plan to your computer. :surfweb:

I found those links too, but only the kitchen one brings up an actual 3D type planner. I installed that plug in. The others just bring me to the filtered products on the website to shop from.

Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Okay, they changed the site from before. The planner was easier. Now they added on some bells & whistles and apparently have added a demo on just how to work the planner.

Check out this link. Click on Pax Planner in the left column, then to the far right is a gray button for "Take a Tour," or you can click on "How it Works."

Apparently, you have to actually click on one of the wardrobes, add the dimension, etc. then click customize, before being able to add it to the planner.

Good Luck! Just an FYI, I am sitting in my IKEA office/craft room and I had to rent a truck to get all the pieces home. The planner was VERY helpful in that I could print off a shopping list. I then went right to the parts I needed and put them on my trolley. It seemed like I had 100 pieces as everything is sold separate - tops, legs, doors, boxes shelves, etc. I also had my DH and son helping me and I really neede their help! I am really happy with it and it cost a fraction of what it would have cost anywhere else.

I want to get a couple Pax wardrobes. That's how I remember the planner was there before. It will cost me an extra $100 to have the units delivered by Ikea. :headache: And that is supposed to be only to the curb. I don't know how I'm supposed to get the stuff upstairs to my place. :confused3

I've actually seen super cheap ads on craigslist for the very units I want. But, they all entail hiring my own truck & people to help me take apart the wardrobes and then moving them, and trying to get them here with being all scratched & scuffed up in the process. :headache: I figure it works out to be the same price as buying them directly from Ikea.

Yeah this. For a tiny little 5 x 10 kitchen we had 94 boxes of cabinet parts. NINETY FOUR! :scared1:

Also make sure you check and double check those measurements. Somehow an extra two inches got added to one wall, and the cabinets don't fit! Argh!

Thanks. I thought I was going crazy.

Do you have a picture? I would love to see what you did. So many cabinets to pick from and ways to do it.

It doesn't have to be Pax. Its just one I was starting with. Looking at other lines too.

The Flickr social networking photo site has quite a few people who put the Pax wardrobes in their homes:

There is even a whole Group of Ikea Lovers:

I like that they show the stuff without fancy lighting & equipment, so you can see how the furniture really looks in someone's home. :thumbsup2
