Has anyone bought an Ikea spring mattress, the inexpensive spring one. My DS is in college and is moving into an apartment in the fall and we need to furnish his room and I was looking around for an inexpensive mattress but I don't want a piece of junk either. I was looking at getting a firm full size mattress and then placing a 3" memory foam topper.
Thanks

I was about to post a similar question. I'm considering a new foam mattress from them.

I got a $100 foam IKEA mattress in college and a cheap bed frame with it. I used an egg crate on top and it is the most comfortable bed ever! We still have it in our guest room, it's my mom's favorite bed to sleep on when she visits.

We got the spring one (twin size) for DS 8 years ago and it is still in excellent shape! We just got one for DD and it is VERY comfortable. I can lie on her bed with her now that she has a twin size one. We are very pleased with the quality and durability!

I'm not crazy about the quality of Ikea. If you're interested in a memory foam mattress that's cheap (well, cheap for memory foam), Walmart has one that's great: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spa-Sensations-12-Theratouch-Memory-Foam-Mattress/10086752

The only downside is that it's packed in a tight container and takes a week or two to completely uncompress to it's full height. It also smells AWFUL for a few weeks. However, it's 25% the price of a comparable memory foam mattress.
