Ikea is coming to DFW

They seem to be a favorite on Trading Spaces and have some neat things on the website. I've been planning on trying to get to the store in Houston someday but now they'll be in our area

Ikea-holics will travel long distances to shop for the Swedish chain's huge selection of cheap and chic home furnishings. They buy luggage to haul home their loot on airplanes or share U-haul trailers with friends. And when they move to a city without a store, they complain.

Ikea fans in Dallas-Fort Worth can rest easier now.

The popular retailer is coming to Frisco in mid-2005. The chain is building a 310,000-square-foot store at the northeast corner of the Dallas North Tollway and State Highway 121 near Stonebriar Centre.

ikea is great (practically our whole apartment is furnished in it), but it is a case of you get what you pay for with most of their furniture. almost all of it is self-assembled.

i just didn't want you to get all excited and then be disappointed when you actually saw the stuff (like my mom was).

mom did love their accesories though, which are cheap and nice - no assembly required. LOL

I have heard that we have a store coming to the Atlanta area too. I'm not that familiar with Ikea, but it looks cool from its website.

You'll love it. We have three in the DC/Baltimore area, and like to assemble ourselves. I will be heading to the Baltimor(White Marsh) one tomorrow on the way to the airport, to pick up another Billy Bookcase. They work great for DVD storage! All our dressers and bookshelves, and the kids beds, have come from IKEA.

I'm bummed that when I move to Florida, I won't have one nearby...or for that matter, a Costco. I might have to make one last shopping trip with the moving van, on the way outta town! I just have to leave room for picking up new furniture in North Carolina.

We've had one here for years, but I only just got around to checking it out last month (It's on the other side of town from me, in an area where the freeway construction will never be finished...). We saw so many things we wanted. We're planning on getting some new bookcases, a TV table, coffee table, etc and found everything we wanted there. We're probably going back to do a real shopping trip soon.

BTW... I love the Ikea takeoff on the Simpsons... "STØR"

Except it is going to be in Frisco! I live in Fort Worth and it takes forever to get to Frisco. I might as well drive to Houston!

Always check their "AS IS" section. Sometimes when they are rearranging an area they mark down stuff to a really great price!

Sometimes it's just the box that is damaged but inside is OK! Or it comes already assembled! Have gotten some really good deals that way!

As we speak, I am typing on my custom As IS couch... it was on the AS IS section.. it was returned. It was a custom couch and we saved about $300 off.

I alwasy check as is!!! Lately they have been rearranging in the PHilly store, so there is a lot there. I saw some nice end tables, and a few buffets

My sons bed is from IKEA, and my couch, two chairs, and another chair (the another chair is over 10 years old and still doing great)
