We are a family of 5 & haven't cruised since being a family of 4 in 2013. We are dying to board DCL again out of Galveston (sneaky Disney sent us a flyer with the heading "Ahoy" that got us hook line & sinker). I'm curious to find out if there is a possibility of ending up with connected staterooms if we were to book 2 IGT rooms at the same time? Does DCL try to put rooms booked at the same time together? Would booking over the phone & making a request help further our cause?

Otherwise we'll book a verandah which I know we'll adore. But, of course, the cheaper we keep our cruises the more there will be! At least this next time we won't make the mistake of not booking #3 while aboard.

The premise with the *GT bookings is you will accept whatever DCL assigns you to. You can't make requests on such bookings.

Note restrictions for *GT bookings:
When booking this restricted-fare category stateroom,
please note the following:

  • New bookings only. Existing reservations cannot be modified to these new categories.
  • You are reserving a stateroom within the selected stateroom type: Inside, Oceanview or Verandah*.
  • Disney Cruise Line will assign your specific stateroom at a later time, based on remaining availability.
  • Specific stateroom requests will not be accommodated.
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking for all Guests and isnon-refundable.
  • Sail date and stateroom category changes are not permitted.
  • The stateroom offer cannot be combined with any other discounted or promotional offer.
  • Full legal names of all Guests are required at time of booking and no name changes are allowed.
  • * Most Verandah staterooms include a private verandah with a clear plexiglass wall; some may include a solid white wall depending upon location. A limited number of Oceanview and Verandah staterooms may include a partially obstructed view.
For the most part DCL will attempt to put you in close proximity, sometimes that may mean connecting, but not always. Sometimes you won't be close.

Thank you. I remember you - PrincessShmoo as being really helpful here when we were planning our first cruise in Oct. 2013. It's great to be back!

I don't think booking over the phone makes that big of a difference. We booked online at like 1 am and I was nervous as I wanted to snag an IGT as soon as I saw it, as they had been gone for weeks. We were completely prepared to be split up but just wanted to be on the ship. We had reasoned we get so much "date" time on DCL it was perfectly fine if we had separate rooms while catching some shut eye. We also knew we would make one of the rooms our base. To much of our delight however we received connecting staterooms. With double baths too! We loved our placement but honestly we were up for whatever. Our kids were younger so I personally think they look at that but reality is.. who knows?

We are also a family of 5 and brought my dad also. We booked GT rooms because they were much less. Was hoping for at least close to each other. The rooms were no where near each other. One was Aft deck 5 and the other was Forward Deck 10. We made sure we got to the port early and were able to upgrade to get connecting ones. It cost us $1000 more. I will never book GT again. I think they are great for families all in one room but for us we need to be closer together.
