I have to take DS to the doc this afternoon. His ear was hurting this morning. I looked and the whole thing is red and swollen with a black mark in the center of the swelling. I asked if he fell or hit it on anything. He said he fell yesterday and hit his ear on the carpet, but it didn't hurt. That doesn't sound bad enough to make his ear look like it does. DH had me call the doc cause he's worried about a spider bite. The nurse thought it sounded strange. At first she said bring him in, then she said we could watch it and if it gets worse or becomes tender to the touch to bring him in. It's already tender to the touch, so we're taking him in. Better to waste our time and copay to find out its just a bruise than to wake up tomorrow with it much worse. It's just weird.

...I always avoid earaches, getting earaches, people with earaches, causes of earaches....

The only natural disaster I have close to me is a Grumpy Pirate living a few hundred miles south. Trust me, it's terrifying.

Now I want Earl to hit Jersey so I can see PK paddling down the street riding a turkey on the news.

Update on C. It IS a spider bite on his ear. For now he has an antibiotic ointment and tylenol or motrin. If it gets a lot worse (it already looks pretty bad), take him back and its on to oral antiobiotics. It could take up to 2 weeks to heal. Poor guy, it looks awful. DH is going to scour his room tonight to see if he can find the culprit. DS has a bookcase headboard, so a spider could easily hide under that and crawl out to bite his ear. On the positive side, the girls and I are now teasing him that he's going to turn into SpiderMan and shoot webs out of his ear. He doesn't find us funny.

He didn't sleep in his bed last night. The little girls have bunk beds. The bottom one is a full, so, since they are 3 and 20 mos, they sleep on the bottom together. C slept on top last night. The pink, butterflies, and flowers on the bedspread, however, may have hurt more than his ear.
