I could be wrong, but don't think the DDE discount is good at poolside bars, only "lounges". I hope that I'm wrong for future reference, but if I'm not, I've lost hundreds of dollars in discounted drinks (well- maybe $10)

1. Yes, you must have an AP, the form asks for the AP number, so not sure if a voucher will work

2. Yes, the cost os $65.00 for the first card, you can add an additonal spouse card for $25.00 more.

3. When you receive your card you will receive a list of TS restaurants that accept the discount

4. You can use the 20% discount for up to 10 people per card, so if you purchase the spouse card too you can add another 10 people.

5. Yes the breakeven point is $325 for the first card and an addtional $125 for the second card

6. It is good for 1 year from the day the card was mailed out, so I have been told not to order it until about 8 weeks out from your planned trip date. So if you plan to go back later in the year, maybe you could get 2 trips out of it.

7. The form says it takes 3-6 weeks, you can get the application form online under the AP section. You can also call to get it.

8. We have used the card before and have never been asked if the member of the card was present. There is no guarantee that they will or will not ask.

We are going on the DDE this year because there are nearly 20 of us going and not everyone can afford the add-on for the DDP. We are considering getting the DDP for a later trip this year when there are less of us going.

I know I did not answer all your questions, maybe someone else will have those. I hope what I did answer helped.

I have my list in front of me:
It doesn't list any pool bars or the beer booths at WS. It is accepted at Rose & Crown Pub.
It is also accepted at the hotel lounges even when you are only drinking.

There are also some extra perks, such as free valet parking when going for dinner. Pleasure Island is also half price.
Of course, don't forget about Vero Beach... Shutter's, Sonya's, and The Green Cabin Room all accept the DDE.

I was planning on stopping at Rose and Crown for a beer and some snacks at the bar. Will my DDE card discount the snacks (appetiser maybe) as well as the beverages if I'm not having "dinner"?

The pamphlet doesn't get that specific, but I would bet the answer is yes.
When we go for a late night drink at the Territory Lounge, we often get a cheese plate or other munchie. We have always received the discount, so I would assume R&C would be the same.

I have 3 trips planned from Oct 07 - Aug 08 and based on the research I have done I really think the DDE card would be a good buy for this year.

From what I understand from this thread is that I should call on or after Aug 10 for 2 reasons:
1. So I have the card in time for my October 07 trip
2. and it will still be active for my end of August 08 trip.

That should work but I'd wait even a little longer to get the card if you don't need it until October. I'd call in early Sept. Then for sure the card will be good through August of 2008 and maybe even longer.

I agree with pretty much everything, the rules of thumb for it being a value over the DDP seem to be "signature dining" and "alcohol" plus "stay for more than seven days" and "have an AP" - but we discovered that the AP was worth getting for the DDP discount if you'll have ten adults.
