If you're the only one cooking Saturday...

I'm finally telling the kids about the trip to WDW on Xmas morning! I can't wait! So of course we will have Mickey Mouse pancakes for breakfast, what else. Don't know about the rest of the day, but dinner is fillet mignon and mashed potatoes, homemade, just the way I like it. Merry Christmas, y'all!

In our family, one person never does all the cooking. WE=e are doing potluck at mom's, which is our tradition. We do christmas eve dinner and everone brings something.
This year's menu:
Spicy crab dip (my recipe)
ranch dip
veggie tray
boiled shrimp
Dad's spicy fried pork tenderloin,( basically like pork roast, but it is flash fried in peanut oil at he end of cooking.) with rolls and fixings for sanwichwes
brocccoli casserole
green bean casserole
assorted "regular" veggies
pecan pie
caramel cake
various cookies and candies

Breakfast:
Monkey bread

Apps:
Brie n crackers
Shrimp w tartar sauce

Late lunch:
Ham
Turkey
Potato salad
Green salad

Dessert:
Red Velvet cake

Would love to make Mac n Cheese, anyone mind sharing their recipe?
Have you tried the craft homestyle that you do on the stove and then bake in the oven? The cheddar is really good and tastes like homemade to me. You actually add milk and butter and cook the sauce on the stove, and then stir it together and bake it with a crumb topping.

We really like this!:rotfl:And, it is so easy! Am thinking about adding it to my Christmas ham dinner!

I actually found a recipe for Paula Deen's crock pot mac n cheese that had great reviews. I already bought all the ingredients and will be making it on Christmas eve. I'm not going to tell you how many calories or grams of fat it has, but, you can imagine since it's Paula Deen ;)

We are doing the Homestyle Mac n Cheese, it's really very very good and easy! :) The kids specifically asked for this actually.

6 for dinner:

Prime Rib Roast
Sweet Potato Casserole (may do yukon gold mashed too as DH likes them)
Green Beans
Fruit Salad ( remnant from childhood: whipped cream, fruit cocktail, mandarin oranges, coconut and extra marschino cherries!)
Deviled Eggs
Jello Jigglers (by request DD13)
Homemade (to die for) Rolls (made these tonight and I want one now!)
Relish tray

Rum Cake
Pumkin Roll
Assorted Christmas Cookies

Everyones menu looks great! I am always looking for new things, then my family always requests the same 'ole! LOL! We vary between a ham or prime rib... nobody is that fond of turkey. Alas I am known to buy the breast on sale and do the whole turkey dinner with fixins throughout the year anyway.

Cooking for 16 - DH probably cooks more than I do - he loves Christmas. I and DS would rather be at WDW!!!

Shrimp Cocktail
Antipasto
Stuffed Mushrooms
Fruit and Dip
Cheese and crackers
Bread sticks and Olive Oil

Boneless spiral ham with honey mustard glaze
Boneless Turkey with gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce
Pork Roast with Pear Chutney
Mashed potatos
Sweet potatos
Turnip
Steamed Green Beans
Steamed Sugar Snap Peas
Dinner Rolls

Cherry Pie - bought this one
Mincemeat Pie - bought this too
Cheesecake
Apricot Squares
Oreo balls
Assorted Cookies, brownies

Believe it or not - we cut back this year. We normally have a lasagna and a sauce with meatballs, sausage etc. too. Cut that out. We eat dinner around 2 pm, then later in the afternoon - other people come for desserts/drinks etc. Which could be another 20 people. We have tons of sandwich rolls and people will make turkey/ham sandwiches as the night progresses. Somehow it all get's eaten. Yikes!!!!

For breakfast it will just be the 4 of us and we are having Cinnamon Rolls, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns and fruit salad.

For dinner there will be 8 of us and we are having, Turkey, ham, oyster dressing, noodles, mashed potatoes w/gravy, green bean casserole, corn casserole, cranberries, deviled eggs, rolls, relish plate, cheese ball, veggie pizza and pies.

Can you say starch overload!

Thinking of having the French toast using recipe from main street bakery. It calls for 10 oz of heavy cream and was wondering if I could use whole milk instead. I had it last year very good but heavy. I also don't want to make another trip out at this point.

I'm still undecided if I'm hosting for breakfast or not. I've been begging my family (mom, step-dad, sister and grandma) to let us do Christmas at our house so DD can play with her toys since last year. They gave in this year. Then I got the flu Tuesday night, threw up for almost 24 hrs. Was super weak yesterday. Trying to walk around Target was fun, kept having to just sit on the floor. So, still trying to figure out if I'll be up for it all the cooking. Making cookies today should be a good indication. If I am cooking, here's the menu:

Breakfast:
Scrambled Eggs
Scrambled Eggs with cheese
Eggs over easy (for DH)
Toast
Bacon
Waffles
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls
Latkes (maybe...those were supposed to be made on Wed when I was sick)

Lunch:
probably won't be hungry but are heading to the ILs. There will be food but one of us always seem to get sick from family gatherings at the ILs so we probably won't be eating. It was my turn last Sun.

Dinner:
I made sauce and meatballs on Tuesday. My dad will be coming over for dinner. We'll also have Italian bread, roast veggies and probably Christmas cookies and pizzelles for dessert.
