If your teen has an Ipad

what do they use it for? I am considering this as a Christmas gift for one of my teens, but truthfully I don't know what you do on it! I have 3 teens in my family and am trying to decide between an ipad and an itouch.

My 14 year old just got one and I caught him using it the other night to do his homework!

They honestly are alot like Large Ipod touches, with your basic "microsoft office" functions such as word processing, excel, etc.

My DD14 has the iTouch, she uses it for music and apps. DBF has a touch as well and he uses his for music, apps and movies. We did play with the iPad while we were looking at iTouches but she liked the touch better so that's what she got. Not has she said "I wish I'd got the iPad instead", nope, she loves her touch!

I absolutely LOVE my IPad! However, I have two teenagers and they really don't show too much interest in the IPad unless we are on the road. For them, a touch is much smaller and easier to carry around.

I have an iPad and am actually on it right now! I use it to go online, play games with all the cool apps, I also use it as an ereader. I have my photos on it, my music, movies. I hardly ever go on my desktop computer anymore. I absolutely love it! I also have an itouch but just use it in my car. My kids are only 7 & 12 but both love to go on the iPad to play games they download. They have Nanos and love them but DD12 wants the new itouch for Xmas. She loves that it has a video camera on it.

For a teen I would say get the new itouch that just came out. It is great with lots of neat options and easy to carry around.

If you get the 3G model, you can websurf anywhere. We use it as our GPS in the car...

If you are deciding between iPad and laptop for your teen to do their hw and for surfing, I think you should go for a laptop. For surfing, go for iPad. iPods are good for music and apps but can't really use it for HW. We have an iPad and we usually use it for our photography portfolio, iBooks, and games.
