and your family/pets were already out, what would you save first?

Ok, this has actually happened to me, many years ago, so all is good now. Family and pets all out of the house, DH goes back in and grabs....the satellite receiver :rotfl: !! Are you kidding me  ? I mean there are picture albums, scrapbooks, framed pictures right on the wall and he gets the satellite receiver!!

Like I said all is good now, this happened in 1995, but yeah I would have really rather had all of my family pictures and maybe my high school yearbooks.

we have a cabinet/dresser that most of the family photos are in.......

That's what we'd grab..... everything else is insured.....

what would you save first?

If my family were already out, nothing. I'd have everything I need. Having lived through having our house burn to the ground I can say this with certainty.

Pictures and my laptop because it has so many pictures on it. I would be heartbroken if I lost all my pictures.

My Giuseppe Armani "Belle" Figurine

My Belle stained glass "tifany style" lamp. (sensing a patern here?)

The "tifany style" lamp my father made me (by hand! :goodvibes )

My photo and scrap book albums.

The rest can all burn!

My contacts and/or glasses (whichever ones I'm not wearing) because I'm blind as a bat and I'd hate to have to wait to have them replaced. My prescription is not the ready in an hour kind. :teeth:

And, like the others posted here, my scrapbooks and photo albums. They're all in an armoire right by the front window. I could just push out the screen and toss 'em out. (Can you tell I've thought this out?)

Can I include my favorite stuffed animals in the "pets" category??

Definitely would want to save scrapbooks and photos. But I agree that as long as my family is safe, I'll be okay with losing the rest.

This is my biggest fear. I saw a house burn down a couple of years ago and I have had nightmares about it ever since.

I guess I would grab a couple of photobooks and my jewely box.
I would probably grab my fire-safe safe too :confused3 I would be afraid that it would not work.

photo albums, pictures, etc. And my purse. And my Disney Video Collection. :thumbsup2

omg, we really are twins... :lmao:

My first thought was my glasses, assuming I'm not wearing them. :3dglasses

I would grab my professional wedding pictures and my baby blanket! All the pictures on my computer are also on my parents computer so those we would still have. I have had my baby blanket for 28 years, can't let that go!!! Our professional wedding pictures are not on disk or anything, so I would grab those. I think I should probably get those negatives to a safe location!

Nothing - I started over once before and can do it again. Nothing is worth going back into a burning building or not leaving fast enough.

I am making copies of all my pix next week & putting them in the safety deposit box--guess another size will be in order!

A quilt from the early 1860's, made by my great great grandmother-- my Dad's WW2 letters(he was in the Pacific & at many famous battles)--a sampler done in 1780--

Dh knows he had better grab the big longaberger corn basket with all of my creatvie memories books of DD growing up!!!!!

Well, I can say from experience that you don't always have time or the mindset to think of things you really want/need to take with you in a house fire.

Probably the first thing I'd grab is some clothes (if it happened at night) because it's a pretty bad feeling having to go to the store the next morning in your nightgown to buy some clothes. :sad2:

I'd try to grab my purse, of course, and photo albums-- but I think I might have too many albums to save!
