I have this Aunt also my godmother who is funny, irreverent loving and caring.

Once when I was 12 A man came to the front of the house while we were planting flowers. Pulled open his coat and flashed us not a stitch on. She never blinked simply stood up and said. Quite calmly. your kidding right? Thats all you have got and your showing it off? Never will I forget that. This was a woman to reckon with.
Always she would have taken the shirt off her back and given it to you.
She was a dance teacher with a killer body. 6 feet a 100 lbs.
She raised 2 kids with alot of humor and alot of class.

She was a true child of the sixties and boy did she love to party. As the years went by, the party wasn't so funny anymore. She ballooned up to 400lbs from 100. Had diabetes, kidney failure, liver failure you name it she had it.

Her DD is preganant she stopped drinking and was getting herself together, we all thought the motivation of her grandchild would stop her. And it did for awhile.

My Aunt died today of liver failure caused by Alcohol abuse. A total waste of a beautiful person at 53.
I am just sick over it.

I too am sorry for your loss.

You are so thoughtful to try to help others with your post. How unselfish to think of others while you are in pain.

53 is way too young - May your post help many.

I am so very sorry. I just posted today about not drinking (the teetotaler thread).

I hope your post helps others who may be struggling with alcohol dependance.

I'm so sorry to hear of you loss. It's never easy losing a loved one. :grouphug:

The sad part is that they never realize what they are doing to themselves and those who love them.

I am truly sorry for you loss and can feel your paon.

I have an Aunt whom I love to death and she would do anything for me. I am in fact named after her.

She has been a lifelong smoker and drinks way way too much. In December 2003 she was disgnosed with breast cancer. I thought for sure it would "scare" her straight. Well all through chemo she didn't drink, only because she felt too ill to do so, but for the love of God she didn't stop smoking. Certain family members, including her own daughter, were out on the porch with her at Easter just puffing away. Imagine seeing a woman bald as a pool cue and sickly white from chemo puffing on a cigarette. I lost it. I confronted those who were with her and told them how horribly stupid they looked out there smoking with a woman battling cancer. I was just as mad at my aunt but didn't want to confront her right then. I did so later.

Chemo's over and she says shes not smoking or drinking but I just can't say that I believe her. Four more weeks of radiation and this nightmare will hopefully be over forever.

I pray that god forgives her for her vices and gives her the strength to overcome them.

Again, I am sorry for you loss.

I lost my own mom that way - beautiful woman - except when she drank, so I know your pain.

My heartfelt condolences.

So sorry to for your loss. Unfortunately people don't realize what they are doing to their body until it us too late.:(

I have a brother who is a wonderful person, but an alcoholic. :(
If they only knew how much they hurt the ones who love them.
I imagine I will be going through the same before his time should be up.
:rose:
Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Sorry for your loss.

My 2 oldest children that graduated 3-4 years ago, their principal died at 51-liver-drinking. He said he started in college and never stopped partying.

I never had to see him or my kids for problems, but he got fired for drinking on the job 3 years ago.

I have a feeling more and more people are going to die of this disease.

so sorry for your loss.

Prayers go to you and your family.
