If you worked from home...

Yes. During 2020 when we worked from home, we were still supposed to stick with our regularly scheduled shifts, so I had to be logged in at six and I logged out at four. We were required to respond to emails within ten minutes during our shift as well. I assume we were being monitored through some sort of software, but I do not have proof of that. So if I wasn’t logged in at six, I would have been late.

We did deal with a lot of other departments and outside vendors, so keeping to the same schedule allowed those people to know it was business as usual. Until we closed for good, of course.

I worked from home for most of my career, *and* I worked with deadlines. That can be a lethal combination. Many times I worked through the night to finish up something due in the morning because I slept late or had a day where I had artist's block and didn't feel like doing the work leading up to the deadline. It makes sense to me now; I do best with a set schedule and rules. When I make my own rules, eh.

I’m not really sure what my “hours” are so it might be hard to determine 😂

I am sure there are varying parameters set by employers for working from home, including starting times/logins. Someone just a few days ago mentioned that they were taking a nap and missed a meeting.

We were expected to be logged in at the start of our shift. I worked from home for 15 months of the pandemic and I was never late so it never was an issue for me.
However two people who were chronically late were ultimately terminated. Them oversleeping was only half the issue, the other half was they were unreachable. I think the company would have been a lot more forgiving if they had overslept and they could be reached. But our work day started at 3 am and these two probably overslept and were unreachable 20 times before they were terminated. And by oversleeping, I think in some cases they overslept by 5 hours.

I work from home with flexible hours, so no, I can’t technically be late.

It was the same when I was in the office though. Late isn’t a thing at my company.

I work a 8-5 desk job normally and during the pandemic I worked from home for about 6 weeks. I wasn't "late" but rather than getting up and truly getting ready, many days I rolled out of bed at 7:50 and started up my computer. I had the luxury of no video calls though.

As an aside, thanks to the pandemic, my brother was forced to telecommute from home. So he did FaceTime. What the person on the other end DIDN'T know was that he was in his underwear and fuzzy slippers...

Professional on the top and comfy on the bottom is my motto. Just don't stand up while your camera is on!

My job was of course different because in TV everything is time specific. The 5pm news starts at 5 pm............4:58:30 to be exact..........and if you aren't ready to go at that exact time, you pretty much have blown an entire day's work.

I was a teaching assistant in a preschool class for kids with special needs during the pandemic. I had to be logged in at 8:30 for the first class session and 11:00 for the second. I led the art project every other day and worked with small breakout groups several days a week. It definitely would have been noticed if I didn't log in!

I freelance from home, and have done so since before the pandemic. But it's entirely possible for me to be late, since every assignment I take has a deadline. I've only ever been late a couple of times, and only by minutes, but I've come down to the wire more than once.
