If you were undercharged at a store, would you go back and pay?

I don't think I would go back.

I can't tell you how many times I've been charged for things I didn't buy (Wal-Mart), double charged for items (Wal-Mart), not given the advertised sale price (uh - Wal-Mart, why do I still shop there?) or had bottle return refund slips ADDED to my total instead of deducted. (none of this I realize until I'm home and I'm sure as heck not going to waste my time going back.)

I think, in the grand scheme of things, my "free stuff" has been paid for by the "stuff I was overcharged for"...I think it all evens out in life.

If that makes me a bad person, so be it.

ITA with stinkerbelle. A mistake is a mistake. If it's not worth my time and gas to go back for a refund of the same amount, I am not going to drive back to pay them (WalMart here, too!) for their mistake. If it was my error, like missing the item in the cart, I would pay. But if I am already home...no. It all evens out ...

If the mistake happens while I am in the store, of course I would correct it right then. I was in Aldi's the other day with DS6 and DS4. Aldi's doesn't bag your stuff, just put in back in the cart. I had 4 large drinks in the cart with DS6 sitting next to them. I thought I had put them all on the conveyor belt, but when the cashier was putting the stuff back in my cart, DS6 piped up, "Mommy, you didn't pay for this one". Both the cashier AND I told him, "yes, we did". He kept insisting, while BOTH of us disagreed with him, "Mommy, you are stealing this one!" Finally, the cashier went over the receipt to prove to him, and as you may have guessed, HE WAS RIGHT! So the above posters are right, that the kids are definitely watching...::yes::

The last time this happened to me I didn't go back. I was in the drive thru at Taco Bell and asked for my usual. (Scary I know that I have a usual at Taco Bell). Anyway the kid told me there were no more XL cups and handed me a half gallon bucket of soda!
A half gallon! Keep in mind this order was just for me on my lunch hour.

Quite frankly I was stunned at the size of this thing. It actually had a handle to carry it. Anyway, I placed the money that was in my hand on my lap to get a tight grip around the soda. He handed me my food and the closed the window. I drove away and noticed the money in my lap when I got back to the office.

If I had noticed right away I would have gone back, but at that point it wasn't worth the time it would have taken me. Honestly, they were the best damn tacos I ever ate.

hahaha...that's too funny.
I used to work at a Taco Bell (back in HS) I can't tell you how many times I've worked the drivethru, handed the customer their soda, taken their money, and have them just drive off before getting their food.

maybe 1 out of 3 people would come back for their food...it's funny really...

so see - it all evens out!

(and yes - if we were out of a certain size cup you wanted - we would always give you the next size up at no extra charge.)

ok we were at wal mart( yeah here to) buying replacemnent containers for my kitchen, we bought 2 sets of 4 and 2 individual containers, not the best deal, but what i needed. ended up buying some things inm electrionics too, so we checked out there, we caught the mistake and pointed it out,, clerk re rang,, and made same mistake,, again we mentioned the error and she re rang,, the third time same thing three times in a row she ranmg all the conatiners up at the single price and mentioned that she needed to make sure she hadnt rang them all up the same again,, to the point she took off the double and re rang them as singles,, we said ok thank you and left. figured if she messed up 3 times in a row she could just take the register shortage and be happy.
