have the flat work surfaces in the middle of the room so you could have friends over to scrap? or would you put the flat work surfaces up facing the wall?

If you put yours facing the wall, how would you have friends over to scrap?:confused3

I'm all ears for your opinions!

I would put them in the center not only so I can have friends over but so my layouts could be in the center of the room and I could walk around the edges and have easy access to my scrapping items.

I actually got this opportunity when my now DH and I moved into our townhouse. I got the smallest bedroom for a scrap room. I too chose the center of the room and put peg board on the side opposite the window. It's a bit crowded in there when I have friends over, but we just spill out into the hall - no one minds (or if they do, they're smart enough not to tell me :rolleyes1 )

Good question... my scraproom is part of a bedroom. Took down 1 twin bed, use the armoire for organizing paper, have sectional organizers along 2 walls and my table is against the wall. Plenty of room for me, maybe a second person, but that's the limit. Would love to hear what you decide on.

If I could, I'd have a bit of both- a nice large island in the center and cabinets with counter space around the perimeter. I'd also put a mini fridge, tv, and my computer (wishblade won't work w/o it) in there.;)

FWIW, I scrap in my bedroom and wouldn't want to invite others up there. (Usually it is the messiest room in the house!) But on the very few occasions when I have had a friend over to scrap, we used the dining room table and I just carried down most of my necessities. And the other stuff was nearby if I wanted/needed it.

I hate having my back to the door or the rest of the room, so I definitely prefer having the workspace in the center. I've also noticed that if I see photos of a scrapspace, I always prefer the ones that don't have the table right up against a wall. Many people can work like that, but I'm not one of them!:)

When laying out my scraproom I placed mine in the center. I have some room in the corner too if I want to scrap back there but mostly it just holds my stuff. LOL I decided on the center so that I could have people over and also so that I could see the tv across the room. I watch tv on dvd while scrapping alot and have to be able to glance up every once in awhile.

thanks for the input guys! I had mine in the center and they are being removed to clean the carpet -- it dawned on me that they can either go back to where they were in the center or we could put them up against the walls.

The grass is always greener, isn't it? I was wondering about having them up against the walls. I had seen some scrap rooms (pictures) that I liked that had them up against the walls.

The kids also have friends over sometimes to work on school projects so I guess I'll put them in the center -- more room for others to crowd around.

Think about your lighting too. Would up against a wall eliminate some lighting for you, especially if you have shelves above you? I work at a big table in my living room and have a lamp on the table but I tend to turn the lights on over the fire place to give me more overhead lighting.

I would still have my table up against a wall and then have a fold away table for friends. I don't know if I could keep all my stuff on the table if it didn't bang up against something. Plus I love my bulletin board.

And if I was really creating my dream room I would have my stuff in the corner with counter tops so I could have stuff to the left and right and the huge deep part of the corner. Then behind me would be an island type thing so I could have my books on it opened and other larger stuff....

I have mine against the wall (office already had built in when we moved in) have a lot of my smaller stuff in a wheeled drawer unit, paper in 12x12 stacking bins and DH put up 2 other shelves along the side wall for extra supplies, in boxes and baskets. I have two small windows above my desk and also a "daylight" lamp on my desk. But since I got my cricut this week I have to do some re-arranging to fit it in. Have fun getting it all together, it really helps when you have everything at your fingertips (make sure your chair has wheels).
