and you were getting Annual passes

and you weren't planning any other vacations

would you splurge and get the premium APs?

We haven't done that before and it is a bit above our budget, but figuring on a min. of 35 days in Orlando AND 5 vacation weeks already purchased and paid for....

We thought we might splurge this year.

What do you think?

It would all depend on how many times you thought you'd use the "extras". My two DS's are a little older than yours and since we're going during July this year we KNOW we'll be at the water parks - possibly every day. We splurged. If you're unsure you might be better paying for the extras per visit.

Are you trying to torture the rest of us? ;)

I can't answer your question, but I'm drooling!

Believe me, we have NEVER done this!!!! In fact, we have never even THOUGHT about it!

I bought 5 weeks of SkyAuction specials for $199/each week before reading the details....they ALL have to be used by November of '09!!!

So, DH said, "well, let's just plan on a lot of Disney throughout the year and then a year off of Disney."

I have 3 boys! We got the homeschool tickets for 5 days in the parks plus 4 vouchers for DisneyQuest and the waterparks and they LOVED the waterparks!

I see it also includes golfing. This will be a big hit. DH is a former golf pro and my older 2 love to play golf with dad.

I think the more I have thought about it today the more I think this can be a one time splurge and we will just enjoy it.

Oh, I'm so jealous! :) We bought premium annual passes to Disneyland 6 months ago, and then I got pregnant and was put on bedrest. The little guy is due to arrive any day now, so I've wasted at least 7-8 months of my pass. So, if i were you, I'd just pay for the extras as they come along.

Well, if we don't get the premium we won't do the extras. For the cost of 3 extras we can go numerous times. I could never pay $30 each for the 5 of us to go to the waterparks for a day! It wouldn't seem worth it to me at all. One 9 hole round of golf is $20 each for the kids and $40 for my DH.

Now, anything could happen, of course, but I don't have any plans to get pregnant....I am 42 and would probably have to shoot myself if I found out I was preg!

Hmmm that's a tough one.

You do know the golf is at a real golf course NOT a mini golf course.

What times of the year are you going? Maybe one of your five trips you can do nothing but water parks and disney quest. To mix it up a bit.

Also where are you staying? Sounds like such a deal!!
:woohoo:

dawn,

first, that's great!!! have a wonderful 5 weeks at wdw!!

second, can you tell me more about skyauction? I've faintly heard of it before you mentioning it. Is it totally "safe" when you purchase or win something? Or is it like ebay where you're really relying on the sellers honesty? I'd really love to hear more, as we really enjoy travelling and do so a few times a year, and would love some good deals now and then! :goodvibes

Yes, we know it is a real golf course, DH was a pro-golfer before he met me and the older boys both golf very well. DH got pretty excited when he found out golfing was included!

We are hoping to go the last 2 weeks in January, 2 weeks in early May, and then one week in the fall. We could add a week if we wanted to pay for another week of staying there.

I don't need to mix it up for myself.....I am there for the parks! But the family really likes all the other stuff.

SkyAuction.com offers unused weeks of RCI rooms. If you go to their site you can typically get a condo for $295/week including tax plus your bid. I happened to get in on some "buy now, book later" deals for $179 and $199 per week, and bought 5 of them.

The problem with the kind I bought is that if you typically go during heavy tourist times, you may have trouble getting a place or you may have to pay extra to get a place. We are homeschooling right now, so we can take our vacation any time.

I got to the "go for 5 weeks" part and fell off my chair green with envy!!!!!

I have no idea what you question was-but I'm gonna say YES do it-if you got the stones to go 5 weeks- you can do anything::worship:

What ever it is-DO IT:thumbsup2

Well, it will be spread out so that it will really be over a 12 month period and then we wont' go for 12 months, so I kind of consider it my 2 year plan.

For the past 3 years we have gone one week per year. Before that we lived in California and went all the time to Disneyland as we lived fairly close.

Believe me, we are VERY FRUGAL, and always do Disney as cheap as possible to go as much as possible.

Even with 5 full weeks, including APs, condo rental, gas, food, etc...we can still stay under $5,000 easily, (probably closer to $4K) which is the price many pay for a one week trip!!!
