If you were given $6,000 what would you do??

Take those dear generous people out for a nice dinner after I got up off the floor :faint: then I think I would save /invest the rest...how nice for you :)

I'd take $1,000 to set aside for vacation money.
The rest would be put toward needed home improvements. We have a lot of improvements to make on the house.

If you don't have an immediate use for this money, I'd buy a CD and let it sit until you need it.

I'd get my family a nice little teardrop trailer. I've always wanted one and it's easier than a trailer, plus we could still use our tent when it's all four of us and the dog camping.

When my grandmother died, I received her recipes. I spent 6 months (while I was home with my newborn) typing them all up and making recipe books for everyone in the family for Christmas. Out of the estate, my parents paid me $250 for the work (unrequested).

I took the $250.00 and bought a lovely cameo necklace of a mom with a baby. I plan to hand it down to my daughter if/when she becomes a mom. Something along those lines would honor your MIL and also have something "tangible."

Wow what a great idea and what a beautiful thing you did...ain't nothing more special than family :grouphug: thanks for sharing that
