If you were getting married, would you have this cake?

It would be cool to have for the kids at the reception. How many times do we see small kids get a piece of the wedding cake and then they decide they don't like it because the frosting is nasty or there's a layer of some sort of fruit creme or mousse. I wouldn't spend mega dollars on it but if the reception was full of kids I'd think this would be great.

Absolutely! Our wedding cake was traditional.....and tasteless. Seems like no wedding cake I've ever had is really good....they just look pretty. Give me something the guests will actually enjoy eating!

it's a very unique idea - however I think the 'execution' of that cake makes it look tacky. (hello - beads?)

I didn't have a traditional cake at all - DH doesn't like cake, but he likes cup cakes  - yeah, don't ask - so we had a cup cake cake! 4 tiers of cupcakes (these things were HUGE - bigger then Dunkin Donuts muffins) with a top layer of real "cake" that we cut with our mickey and minnie wedding topper on it - it was very cute and we got a ton of compliments on it.

and for those that think this was the 'cheap' way out - I wish! this cake was actually more $$ then a traditional tiered cake.

let's see if I can get this to work:

Heck, for that many Kispy Kremes, I'd take on a second husband just for the reception treats!

Thanks Stepharoonie! :)

Yeah - it was 'different', and we just weren't the "traditional type people"...plus it made things SOOO much easier on the waitstaff too - no cake cutting necessary...just plop a cupcake (many more were back in the kitchen) and 2 chocolate coverered strawberries on a plate and they were done!

plus - it was actually VERY tasty.

but I still think the KK cake is a cute idea - just not in the design that you posted! It could be displayed better! hehe
