What kind is it? Mine is a white gold princess cut. What made you pick what you did or was it picked out for you? Do you wear it on vacation? Are you still happy with your ring? Feel free to post pictures!

I haven't worn my engagement ring in years. I stopped wearing it when my kids were young because I was worried I would scratch them with it, and just never really put it on again. It's a beautiful ring, a square cut solitaire, and it is what I wanted. DH did a great job picking it out! Ok, now I'm feeling a little guilty about not wearing it

Add me to the list of those that didn't choose a diamond. My original bridal set underwent an unfortunate series of events that left my engagement ring destroyed and my wedding band lost. :sad1: The engagement ring was a heart-shaped pink tourmaline with diamonds down each side. It was unique and beautiful and I loved it. I've bought several other rings since and I always wear something on my left hand, but nothing has come close to replacing it in my affections.

Wear mine everyday , don’t take it off unless I’m baking or gardening.

If I took the diamond off it would look funny since the wedding band is the thin band on the bottom that that has a dip for the diamond to sit.

Husband got it for me, it will be 30 years in a couple months.,image.jpg

I never had an engagement ring until a few years ago. My husband bought a beautiful solitaire in a platinum band for our 35tj anniversary. I have a diamond wedding band which is my third band. The first was a plain gold band for our wedding 42 years ago. Then later he bought me a diamond and ruby band which I loved. It it was stolen so he got me the newest band for my 60th birthday. I wear my rings on vacation and when we go out. I don’t wear them much at home or when I go to bed. A few years ago I developed some wierd allergies that causes a rash on my fingers when I wear them too much. I went to a dermatologist when prescribed some cream and suggested I could wear a bandaid on my ring finger to avoid contact.

I don't have an engagement ring anymore.
about 20 years ago (our 30th anniversary), I took the diamond out of it, along with the diamonds from my mother's wedding band and my grand mother's ring she had made with various diamonds from rings and had a custom ring made.

I get complements on it all the time because all the stones are different and set in a couple of ways.

We didn't have a lot of money when we got married, so we just had sterling silver bands. Later, my husband bought me a small diamond solitaire that I wore until our 30th anniversary. On that day, he gave me a beautiful 1-carat solitaire that I wear every day. I am saving the smaller solitaire for my grandson if he would like to have it to create an engagement ring for his future bride. My granddaughter just got engaged. Her engagement ring is a pink heart-shaped sapphire surrounded by black spinels.
I do wear my engagement ring on vacation, but any other jewelry is fake.

We also didn't have a lot of money when we got married and since we were both single parents, we bought a swing set for my son instead. But on our 25th anniversary, we went to a pick a pearl stand at WDW. I picked the setting for the ring, DH chose the oyster and the next day he presented it to me. I wear it on my left hand with my wedding ring, yellow gold, a pearl with 2 small diamonds (don't even know if they're real-don't care).

That pink ring sounds gorgeous!

I love reading about all of the varieties of engagement rings, and love that so many have other stones than diamonds.
I wear mine all the time, day and night. I can't remember the last time I took it off. I"m not entirely sure I can get it off.....I probably should try.
My original engagement ring was a square cut 1/2 carat solitaire. A little over 10 years later, we added to it. 1 carat in the middle, original stone on one side, and we were going to add my mother's stone to the other side, but I decided to just keep her ring as is. It was beautiful, and she also never took it off. So just added a new diamond on the other side.

My ring is kind of an interesting story. One of my grandfathers was a jeweler, so I know DH felt some pressure. We also had a few friends get engaged just before he proposed, so he asked me what I thought of their rings and what would have been better for me. We also had the benefit of being a little bit older, but pre-kids. So, finances were different. I said a wanted either a pear, asscher, or oval diamond...side stones-preferably baguettes maybe even alternating with rounds or marquise stones...white gold or platinum (my skin is sensitive)...and something just different/interesting.

He proposed with a pear shaped diamond in a white gold mounting head on a plain yellow gold band...with a promise to shop together for the right setting. When we went to the jeweler, I wasn't finding anything, but somehow he found something that was utterly perfect. It had tapered baguettes on each side, a band that was a blend of an antique looking rope and wheat pattern in white gold, and the stones were separated from the band section with little pieces of yellow gold. It looked like nobody else's ring. When it came time to find a matching wedding band, the jeweler had nothing and quoted us something crazy to work from scratch. I found a nearly identical mounting online in all white gold (and smaller side stones) for a really reasonable price. I had to find a different jeweler willing to be honest and take on the project, but the one who did the work took out the center mounting head of my online find and mounted a straight baguette in the center in some of the yellow gold from the pear stone's original setting...so I could always have a bit of that original engagement setting with me. Unfortunately, due to some health issues and weight gain...I haven't been able to wear it in a while. I often just wore the band anyway and kept the main ring locked up. I still LOVE my ring. Love the guy a whole lot more...but the ring always makes me smile.

Haven’t worn it in years, it’s mangled and sitting in the safe. It was an oval with a smaller oval on each side. Years ago we were moving and I bumped it while packing cutlery. The middle stone fell out and I couldn’t get the ring off so it had to be cut. There’s always something else to pay for so I never got it re-done…
