If You Want To Live Near WDW...

This sounds like a plan. Then DH and I wouldn't get lost. :rotfl: We just got back from our first off-site trip to Orlando and we could never get back to our condo without getting lost. We were frustrated the first couple of nights but by the end of the trip we were laughing at ourselves. We tried to leave Orlando around 4pm Firday afternoon (from SeaWorld) and couldn't find a I-4-east on ramp. We ended up going through endless toll boths...turning around and paying the same toll again....stuck in huge toll booth trafic jams....etc....Tell me Feralpeg...is it easy to get lost...or are we total goofs?

Don't feel bad. When I first moved to Orlando, I was totally confused. Every time I went to the Florida Mall, on the way home, I'd end up at Lockheed Martin's security gate. I was afraid they were going to think I was some sort of terrorist casing the joint.

I used to get lost on WDW property. Now, it seems very odd to me. I know WDW roads so well.

It just takes practice!

If it makes you feel better, Sea World is a challenge. There is no on ramp to I-4 right by Sea World. You have to drive a ways to get to it. I'm sure you are not the only one to get lost trying to find your way back.

I use Sherberth Rd. all the time when I'm going to Disney to avoid I-4. There are a bunch of older apartments in that area but they still seem to be occupied. While I seem to remember there being some vacant land, there's not an awful lot. Sherberth Rd comes out on Osceola Pkwy right before the entrance to the AKL.

The area on 192, well let's just say, they couldn't pay me to live on 192. If you were going to use a townhouse for a vacation only dwelling, fine, but to live there as your primary residence, umm, no thanks. That area is tourist trap heaven.

I just don't like the idea of so many homes RIGHT THERE at Disney. Seems to take away some of the magic to me.

You won't be able to see these townhomes from WDW. I can see the Contemporary from my house, but I can't see my house when I at MK or even from the monorail.

Virgo10, the area north of MK is part of Windermere and is a very nice area. I agree. You couldn't pay me enough to live near 192. I think it is a shame that Celebration borders 192.

Feralpeg, the townhomes are going to start at $200,000 and work their way up to $400,000. Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for a townhome....but....someone else might. I'd rather buy a house.

The houses on Reams Road are starting at $400,00 and work their way up. I'm hoping to find a house in Keene's Pointe in the next 4-5 years, and I'm also hoping that their prices don't skyrocket anymore than they have...but with a housing boom that close to Disney, it's possible.

LOL, I drive through there almost everyday. We're moving to Windermere in June, so we'll be pretty close neighbors! :)

Oh my gosh, I agree. We were talking the other day about how much that area has changed. We're thinking once the houses and some of the townhouses build up, you may not be able to see the Contemporary from the "back way" anymore. That's one of the coolest things at night to see...that, and Wishes blowing up in the sky so close to where you're driving.

They'll probably make security tight getting into the back roads of Disney once the houses/townhomes are liveable. They recently got rid of the security shack at the MK CM parking lot, but if a lot of people are running around through there...they could put it back up.
