You are almost out of luck. BTW, "today" is October 30, 2015 (a full year in advance).

In 2016, Halloween (10/31) is on a Monday. Using the reservation tool, I checked dates coming in Friday 10/28 and leaving Wednesday 11/2. (departing Tuesday 11/1 showed NO vacancies of any kind - that's the WDW reservation system for ya!). Playing with the dates only gives a little slack on availability.

Only Tent sites are available with the 11/2 departure date.



Here is the "none at all" with the 11/1 departure date.



You can get a Preferred or Tent by arriving 10/31 and out 11/2 though.



Coming in Sunday 10/30 and out Tuesday 11/1 showed no availability. So mix-and-match departures and arrivals and you might get lucky. But time is running out...

PPS - one of these days Disney is going to wise up and charge Christmas-type prices around the Halloween holiday.

Seriously, people don't understand how far in advance Halloween fills up. The last couple years Oct 31 has been around the weekend which makes it more conducive to making a weekend trip+.

My heart goes out to the folks in January who post and say, "I can't get a site for Halloween". The Fort for Halloween is a hidden gem - lots of people know about it, sure, but put it on the Travel Channel in a 30-minute special, and all hell would break loose.

Personally, I think the Fort gets a lot of the folks on property who can't/don't do MNSSHP.

We are considering getting a cabin next fall - I've been wanting to go to Fort Wilderness for a couple of years now. Which is the better time to visit the Fort in terms of activities and decorations - Halloween or Christmas?

The cabins still show availability for H2016 in all combination of dates. Given their price points, it's likely they don't fill up as fast as the campsites. In November I think Thanksgiving week would be more full - it certainly is for the campsites.

It's a toss-up on Halloween or Christmas. Both have folks who decorate and the Fort has special activities for both too.

For cabins, I don't think the year-in-advance rule holds like it does for campsites.

Halloween in 2018 is a Tuesday. Assuming one wanted to be there for Saturday the 28th morning, you would need to call Jun 17th of 2017, that is the 499 days out.

I believe in Ed's idea of expanding the Fort, also.

That is good to know. One of the major draws of the Fort for me is all of the non-park activities.

Edited to add: By the time we would rent a camper or RV, the price point is pretty similar to the cabin with the military discount.

Jen, if the discounted cabin cost were close to the site+trailer rental cost, I'd go with the cabin too. Especially with the refurbs to the cabins.

2100 is the cabin loop closest to the pool/Trading Post area if that is what you are looking for.

We are Booked Oct 30 to Nov 18 2016 not thinking about leap year until now. I can imagine what it is going to be like, The line will be down World drive. CM,s were obviously overwhelmed this year. Been coming to the fort since 1982 and have never seen it like this.

The lines were insane on Halloween morning. We thought we could run out for a few things but that was a bad idea. At the gate they said it
Was a hard close only people with reservations or dinner reservations were allowed in. They told people to park at disney springs or the magic kingdom and take a bus over. People were parked all over the grass. Never saw it so crazy.

Coincidence, we booked ours last Sunday too, but the end of Sept for a week to utilize that last bit of AP allotment. Preferred site too (first time).

The DW just informed me that we are booked for October 29th to November 13th in a premium site for Halloween 2016. We have never done Halloween so I'm stoked. Reading the October trip reports about all the decorations and the trick or treaters and now we get to see it first hand. Biggest concern is coming in on a Saturday before Halloween. Hearing and seeing the pics of campers lined up all the way out to Vista Blvd. and the overflow lots "overflowing" makes me a little nervous. Still stoked though!!!!

We were never there on Halloween but one year we were there at WDW (but off property) during the Halloween season. We did get to see all the nice Halloween decorations. Never did the Halloween Party. Maybe one year we should try that. Since we seem to be able to make it down about every other year and we are already booked for Thanksgiving 2016, maybe I need to mark that Jun 17th of 2017 on the calendar (for Halloween 2018).
