Good morning,

I have a few research questions for those of you going on the 40% code. Just need to figure out differences between quotes I've been given.

When are you travelling, at what resort, and what is your per night cost? Also, did you book package or room only?

Thanks, I appreciate it!

The information you're asking for ... won't really help you. Some resorts no longer have any rooms left on this promotion. Others only have certain types of rooms available. What everyone may or may not have gotten is irrelevant. What matters now is what is LEFT.

Everything about the dates this promotion is valid and so forth are listed here..

As for the rates.. you can figure it out very simply -- price out a room only booking at the Walt Disney World website. Look at the room only amount BEFORE taxes.

Multiply that x .6

That will be your hotel room rate after the discount. The difference between that and the amount you got from the website is your "savings."

If you want to know what it works out to with a package.. price a package at the resort you want on the WDW website. Subtract the savings you calculated above. And that's your package price.

The savings is off room only. No savings on tickets, dining or any other add-ons. If you choose a package. The portions of the package cost (tickets whatever) are at the normal prices. They are not discounted.

This thread contains a list of people using this promotion and the dates (most list the resort as well) they're travelling..

I wouldn't count on booking if you didn't receive the code. They appear to have clamped down on that quite firmly. The odd person gets thru here and there.. but I wouldn't count on it.

Example #1 : I received the code in an email from Disney. I'm booked at Pop from Feb 25 to March 03. The regular room rate is $119 a night for that time period .. because it is a peak time period to start with. For six nights my pre-tax amount is 714$. Take 40% off and that's 428$. And that's what I'm being charged. Plus taxes of course.

Example # 2 : Someone travelling during Disney's Value season .. the standard non-discounted nightly rate is 82$. Six nights would be 492$. Take 40% off that.. and your balance due before taxes is 295.20$.

So you see.. it really depends on :

- What season you are travelling in.
- What class of room you get (standard, preferred, with a particular view)
- What resort you are staying at
- What rooms are still left on the promo for the dates you want to travel

There's a lot of variables here.

Probably the best thing to do -- is explain to US what quotes you were given and I bet we can sort it out for you. One warning - the people on the phone are trained to add vacation insurance to every package. And they may not have made that super clear to you. It adds about 100$ to any given offer they quote. So that might be screwing up your calculations.

Tell us what the quotes you got are and what they are for.

Include the dates of travel, what hotel, what view, insurance or no insurance (if you didnt tell them no insurance they probably included it but let us know if you know for sure insurance, no insurance, or if insurance wasn't even mentioned)

For a package also include ticket length, age of all people on reservation (number of people 3-9 years of age, number of people 10 and up), length of tickets, Hoppers? , Water parks?, Dining plan?

We can then help you get an idea of what is what. Comparing to what others got is often not helpful as everyone has different componants.

i did not get a code and i finally got a CM who would give it to me, i am staying AKL dec 15-22 pool view, no standard views are left. it was 150 dollars a night i believe? also got 7 day park hoppers and ddp for 2,250. hope that helps

See, this is why I find this so confusing. I got 2 different sets of info when I asked the same question :confused3 Perhaps I am not asking the right questions to the CM or I should be asking the same, very specific questions each time I call.

When I called yesterday I was given a quote of $2597 for 7 nights value season at POR in a standard room. I asked for 8/23. Hotel and 4 day tickets w/ park hopper and water park. That's for 2 adults anc 3 children. I didn't ask for insurance so I assume it was included.

When asked, the agent told me there was a PIN attached to my name that was valid for peak season. She quoted $195 per night at POR (rack is $210 during peak) standard room only during peak season. I asked her to check 5/28. Now that I look at the chart, I see that is actually regular season with a rack of $185. I didn't get a package quote including the PIN but I should probably call back and do that.

When I called this morning, I was also told that there was a PIN for my name, but this agent said it was valid only through 3/30. She said I was ineligible for "the code" on a package when asked because my PIN didn't include it. Her room only quote based on what *my* PIN is was $129 at POR (rack is $210). So *this* quote sounds like what people were getting with "the code". Her package quote for 5 nights with 4 day MYW tickets with waterpark for 2 adults and 3 kids is $2110 (without water park is $1854). Again, I am assuming insurance was added on there since I didn't say no.

So hopefully you can see why I'd be confused. I'm getting conflicting information about what code is on my name. I had her hold the 3/21 res for the night just so I can figure out some things and I'll probably call again tomorrow.

Thanks again for trying to shed some light for me. I do appreciate it! :) It's been a while since I've tried to navigate a pieced together Disney trip.

Call back - and immediately ask for a supervisor.

The person will want to know why. Explain your situation firmly but politely and again -- ask to speak to a supervisor.

Keep asking.

When you get the supervisor. Ask exactly what this discount that is on your account is good for... cause you'd like to use it -- but you can't get a straight answer.

Here is the rates page from the WDW site.. Seems like you found this before from your post.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/seasonalityChart?id=SeasonalityChartPage2

The rack rate for March is 185. So if you were quoted 129. That tells me you have received the 30% code that is only valid thru March 30th. Period. It would not apply during any other peak season this year. The first CM that told you that was wrong. (To the best of my knowledge and experience on these boards) This code is NOT the same as the 40% discount code that was good for various weeks throughout the year.

I do NOT understand the quote they gave you for August. Maybe I misunderstood your post, but August 23rd would be 145 a night --- rack rate. What was the dates for the 195 a night quote?

Regardless, the code you have is good for 30% off at any level of resort till March 30th. And I *think* that discount has to be booked by February 18th. So unfortunately you only have a few days to decide.

Ultimately.. call back -- speak to a supervisor -- and ask them to explain the promotion to you in terms you can understand.

I can NOT believe how they run things down there sometimes.

I posted to you on another thread ,but to me your quote seems high.

We are a family of 5 3 adults (grandma is comming too) and two children. We are going to POR in Aug. for 6 nights (aug 21st to 27th.) We have 6 day base tickets and with my pin code our total was 1773.10. Even prior to our PIN it was less then your quote.:confused3

I don't understand this...You finally got a CM who gave it to you? I read on a linked thread that some people were calling Disney 10-20 times till they got a CM who gave it to them. So this is NOT a general code? This is the same one from a week or so ago that got passed around? :confused3

Good idea to ask for a supervisor :)! Here's the page where I got my rack info from http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/disney-rates-2007.htm#MODERATE that's where I'm coming up with $210 for March, since we'd be in a standard room at POR.

I'm pretty sure it would have insurance since I didn't know to say no to it. But you're right, it seems high.

Thanks again~!

its the same code everyone has been trying to use...my AAA agent said we did not have a PIN but had a code...after 2-3 tries she got a CM who would give me the discount even though I didn't have the pin number.

HeatherLynn:

Before all heck breaks loose on here.. Your agent actually booked that more than a couple of days ago -- right?

And it is definitely NOT the same code. She clearly has the 30% off code which is only good till March 30th. (see my post above) Which explains why she was quoted rack rate with it at other times of the year than March.

24Jack:

Neither this code.. nor the famous 'forbidden' code were general codes. There was confusion at Central Reservations about that and a number of people from these message boards *(62 at last count) booked a reservation without actually having received the PIN.

Not a large number by any means.

You dont think that everyone who booked that forbidden code gave their information here, do you? Personally I wouldn't have, too many people were randomly shut out of the snafu...

Jack:

No.. I don't think everyone who used the code gave their info in that thread.

However, as of today, there are 119,860 members on this board (including children). And I'd be surprised if even 1% of that number them booked using that vacation code without receiving it.

But lets assume that 1% of them did.. That's 1198 vacation bookings spread across many weeks of the year. Presuming ALL of them booked 7 night vacations.. (highly unlikely) that's 8396 room-nights.

For a resort with over 8500 value rooms .. that works out to three million, one hundred and two thousand room-nights (just in value remember) every YEAR that they wanna book up. That 8396 is still statistically insignificant. Cheerleading competitions would have more effect.

And I have not even counted the moderate and deluxe rooms in that total.

J

um...yeah...

why does it matter when I got it? 40% off code is goog through march 15th i thought (to book with)

It's not about you at ALL heather.. :)

WHEN you used it matters.. because in the last week or so.. Disney really seems to have clamped down on people who didn't receive the code trying to book with it. So I'd be very surprised if you booked your vacation yesterday.

And if people think they can use the code without having received the PIN - they'll start calling 10 and 20 times again trying to do so. And then they'll come back here all angry if they're not successful.

Just trying to limit expectations at this point really.

J

oh haha. I thought I did something wrong. I was really excited about this opportunity since we just had our disneymoon and DH was sick, in bed sick, for 3 days of it, so this is kind of like our "redo" haha. didn't mean to cause a disturbance among the ranks.

um....yeah...I booked 3 weeks ago! ...:confused3

No worries.. I hope you have a MAGICAL trip.. and a magical redo ;)

Update!

The advice to call again helped! I called this morning to re-schedule my March hold. This time I said I knew I had a pin attached to my name, and that I wanted to look up room only rates for that pin for 8/23, 7 nights for 2 adults and 3 kids at POR. She actually said "wow - this is a really good rate!" It came up as $87 per night standard and $96 water view. At that point I told her what "the code" was and she said "yes, that's the code on your name".

She also told me that this code must be booked by 3/15 for travel through 12/27 with targeted weeks. I'd have to ask for specific weeks individually to see what rate they came up as. I didn't want to trouble her. The quote she gave me for tickets was for 4 day basic with waterpark options was $1269 for 3 adults (one of my kids is 12) and 2 children. I'll research if I can do better.

She did say that "the code" was good on packages too, but I was being called away by my DD so left it at that.

I'm hopeful that the room only figure will convince DH! :cool1:
