Upgrade room location (preferred location) or upgrade from free quick service to full dining, what would you pick and why?

Preferred room for me because location is worth more to me than food. I think it's as simple as deciding what has the most value to you. If you are doing a number of TS meals then the DDP may make more sense for your family.

I wouldn't bother with the preferred location or the water view at CSR (stayed 5 times) our preferred building was 8A which is just a standard building.

Whether I would pay to upgrade DP would depend on my plans how many TS meals I was planning anyway. It would need to be good value :goodvibes

I would upgrade the dining, but my holidays very much include food! It is also nice to sit down for a nice meal once in a while. Although you would then need to factor in paying yips.

I have stayed at Coronado, we were in a Casitas building 5, but having stayed there I would happily stay in Ranchos which a lot of people tend to not want to do due yo the distance. We did gave a car though.

The only other option at CSR is to upgrade to the business class rooms which do sound nice :)

Me and dh are planning 2 weeks and Coronado was our budget compromise. We stayed before and by fluke got a preferred location room due to not being happy. As the resort is so spread out it would be a pain especially if we need to keep using the marketplace

But then We have always had full dining or paid oop but never tried quick service so not sure if it will work for us. We always got to le cellier as tradition there might be one or two ts dinners

Obviously upgrading both would be best case but the dreaded budget is looming!!!

Hmm what to decide?

In would say that's apples and pears because the upgrade to regular dining with tips will be a lot more money than upgrading to a preferred room
Location which is not much money.

Agreed. You may be better upgrading location, since it sounds like a priority to you, keeping the QSDP and paying OOP for a few special meals. It's probably the most cost effective option if budget is the overall deciding factor. How many TS restaurants did you have in mind?

It depends whether its the money or the experience that is under consideration.

DH loves to have a leisurely breakfast and also find new and interesting places to eat, character meals, etc, therefore we would choose the DDP every time. The food part of our holidays is reasonably important to us as a family :grouphug:

Having said that we are staying at the Yacht club this year as we have enjoyed the location being so close to the parks in the past. But we even upgrade to Deluxe DDP. My DD has food allergies and the first time we went we were unsure how she would be able to find enough to eat on the menus, so we upgraded her to an adult (she was 9) and the Deluxe DDP, now we cant bring ourselves to have less than that. :rotfl2:

Honestly, I have done 5 stays at CSR. We have stayed in all 3 sections (casitas 3, Rancho 7A twice and Cabana 8a twice). We had no issue with any of the locations however we Preferred the Cabana section which are not preferred buildings - there is a bridge across that makes it a short walk to El Centro (which was no longer than Casitas 3) and you are right by the pain pool.

I would add a request to your reservation for the building - they always met our requests when we stayed and if they hadn't they happily moved us when we asked at check in.

Also unless you are planning lots of TS meals it sounds like you might be best with the QSDP and paying for the couple you have planned :thumbsup2

Upgrade the dining! I stayed at CSR once & got put in Ranchos. Liked it, it was about a 5 minute walk in the morning across the bridge into the main building.

Each to their own but unless I had mobility problems I would never pay to upgrade at CSR. We have been there five times and stayed in various buildings all amazing, no huge walk between buildings and bus stops and no vast walking in UK terms from one end to the other of the resort. Loved it each time and only stopped going to CSR because of breakfasts and free dining plan which are important to us. IF the location is that important to you personally then spend your money the way you choose but I would never pay to choose a different location at that resort it's not as if you have a balcony and want a specific view.

We wouldn't choose to do qsdp but you definitely need to factor tip money and booking in advance if going for ddp. It's a huge part of our holiday but can understand why others prefer the quick service plan :)
