Sea World etc - I assume that if you stay on site you won't have a rental car- so how do you get to the other attractions?

TIA, Jen

The only choices I know of would be a taxi or a rental car. You can rent a car at the Dolphin, we've done that before. We've also taken a taxi to US/IOA, I don't remember exactly how much it was, but it wasn't cheap.

Mears also aoffers a shuttle from any disney resort to Universal/Sea World. It's pretty cheap I think it was 15 round trip. (this was a year ago though) Although there pick up and take home times can be late.

Ours was so late going there Disney actually drove us and 4 other guest to universal (talk about customer service) But if its about saving money it may be worth it. But if your family is large enough (anything over 4) A taxi/limo may be the same price and give you more flexibility/assurance of your pick up/drop off times.

We took a taxi each way a couple weeks ago and it was $40 + tip each way
:scared1:
will not do that again......
we went to Royal Pacific Resort for character meal with scooby doo.
Next time maybe we should get dropped off at IOA so we can take mears shuttle. We were told the shuttle only goes to parks, not resorts, which is why we took a taxi.

I'll be following this thread to see other advice. I read about the linx bus system but read that it makes a stop and could end up taking over an hour to get to the final destination.

We stay on-site and we always get a rental car. The only way I know to get to Universal, Sea World, etc. is with either a rental car or taxi. I have never seen a shuttle at Disney picking people up to go to Universal.

We like to get a towncar service to take us there (*********** is our favorite). They'll drop you off right at the park and pick you up.

On one trip we told them to pick us up at 8pm, and by 5pm we were totally worn out and ready to go back to AKL- so I called *********** and they were there in 15 mins.

It's about $100 r/t but it's the most convenient. I don't want to waste my vacation time renting a car, but that's just me.

I had a car rental from the Disney world car center (Wydham hotel?) from Enterprise for the 1/2 off weekend rate. Thursday thru Monday morning and for a Nissan Sentra it was $55. total.

They picked me up and dropped off. Took a debit/card $150 held until return.
I had a ECV and without doing anything but taking the seat off and folding down the handle it fit in the trunk.

On the transportation forum this server there are many codes and discounts posted for rental. If you are going off site it is worth the rental. Some are $95 for a week total.

We went to SeaWorld and we just got a taxi. Valet ordered us a Mears taxi van and then on the way back there were lots of taxi vans waiting. We took the Yellow Checker Cab back to the resort as Mears didn't have a taxi van at the time. Very easy and for us cost us slightly more then Mears shuttle for all of us. But we were there in a jiffy and back to our resort in a jiffy - no going to other hotels. Well worth the money.

We stay onsite and always rent a car. If you total all the taxi trips-we won't use the busses as they are not always prompt and at the end of a long day, we don't want to wait-it often adds up to more than the cost of a renta. Check out mousesavers for car rental discounts. Often, you can get an economy rental for under $100.

We went to SW in 2005 from AKL and took a taxi. The hotel concierge told us there were no shuttles available to other Orlando parks. Because of the location of AKL, a taxi I think cost us almost $50 round trip.

This past Aprill, from POFQ, it was a better location and the taxi from the hotel to SW was around $40.
We also went to UO for 2 days during our trip and I think that was around $18 or $20.

Someone told me back before our April trip that Orlando has a trolley. I couldn't find any more info on this though. I think the trolley has alot of stops and I'm not sure where you get on and off.

If it doesn't pinch your wallet, I would suggest a mears taxi. It just makes things alot easier and you don't need to wait on other people. The taxi stations are readily accessible when you leave SW and UO. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes.

When we want to go to Universal, SeaWorld or Busch we just get a taxi. The rates aren't that bad. No need to prearrange one on your return because there are tons of them waiting outside to take you back.
