If you stay in the AKL, do you pay to go into the park?

OP -- plain & simple, Don't be afraid to ask questions-- no matter how silly some people may think it is!!!

I agree with the recommendation of Birnbaum's. It is what helped me the most with planning my very first trip.

I see you are joking, but your recent posts have been about very basic questions, and I have thought about suggesting a guidebook as well. I really recommend Unofficial Guide and Passporter - I read them both cover to cover, and also learned a lot from these boards as well.

Ditto.

OP, my recommendation is to get a good disney specialist travel agent... he or she can answer all your questions, will not refer you to a guidebook (unless you want them to), and will help with itinerary planning as well as dining arrangements... a good TA can make or break a disney vacation (but remember, a disney specialist is the KEY!!)

Good is the key word here. There are plenty of TAs out there that pass themselves off as "Disney Specialists" and give out horrible information.

I have noticed this poster asking a lot of questions that are on the more "basic" side. While these forums are awesome, the overview the OP could gain from checking out a decent guidebook would save her a lot of time. And yes, as a PP mentioned, you don't have to buy them, check one out from the library.

In the OP's defense, when AKL was first built, I thought that they shared the same property (after all, they have the same name)!

Anyway, the Animal Kindom Lodge has a savanna with animals but that savanna is not connected to Animal Kingdom (the theme park) in any way. It has its own barns and the whole bit. There is no admission charge to look at the animals at the resort (though there are some tours that do charge admission).

To get to the Animal Kingdom theme park from the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you have to take Disney Transportation bus or drive into the the theme park parking lot just like any other theme park (MK, MGM, Epcot

I don't have a photobucket account so take a look at the map below (satellite view preferably).

That's fabulous, perfectparanoia, thanks! Over on the Disneyland forum we have HydroGuy who finds the great maps for Anaheim...now I know there's you (and Robo) for WDW! :)

I would head over to www.allearsnet.com it is a great site. To me it is a lot like a guide book, with how it is set up.

Kae

And if you are staying at AKL you will love it great resort.

how long will it take to get from animal kindom to animal lodge? we are eating at boma's?

OP, please feel free to ask ANY and ALL questions here! That's what those of us who go often are here for!

Animal Kingdom Lodge is just one of the Disney resorts. It is not too far a drive to that theme park, but isn't connected to it. I've stayed there four times, and now decided I likely won't again. It feels too remote from the other parks.

There are resorts walking distance (Contemporary) or monorail ride (Grand Floridian and Polynesian) to the Magic Kingdom. There are also resorts walking distance to Epcot (or a short boat ride to Hollywood Studios). There are other resorts as well, in many price ranges.

There are also Disney Springs resort hotels, which don't provide the same things like Magical Express to and from the airport, but do have their own bus service (which is less frequent, but you pay less to stay at them). They have less of a resort feel, but are more like just a place to sleep, for the most part.

AKL or any of the other resorts are not inside any park, yes you need a ticket, yes it is expensive. Any resort guest get EXTRA magic hours and parking at the parks, and free transportation to any park if not driving, but you have to pay for a ticket to get into the park.
