If you rebooked on ship and didn't use DreamsUnlimited, now may be the time to switch

You cannot modify the dates

This is not true. You can change the dates and retain your shipboard credit and discount. You can do this whether you retain the reservation or transfer it to a TA. What you can't do is cancel a reservation that you booked onboard and have it reinstated to match what you got when you first booked it onboard.

fast43- Rebooking onboard will get anyone/everyone a 10% discount and a 200.00 stateroom credit.

The offer can vary. When I booked onboard awhile ago, the offer was 10% off and $400.00 shipboard credit when booking one of the Antigua or San Juan itineraries.

John- I think my I received an e-mail from you this morning. Please clarify something for me. I rebooked while onboard and DCL put AllSeasons as the lead agent. Can I transfer my ressie to Dreams or not??? Since I booked onboard the original is DCL and then it would be assiged to AllSeasons. Please let me, as well as the others here, know what is the true story.

Hi Mark & Sandra

Yes, I was the one who replied to your inquiry about transferring your reservaiton to Dreams Unlimited Travel.

As I mentioned in my email, if you rebooked onboard and had DCL book it under another Travel Agency, or you did not specifically ask to remove that TA from the new booking, then Dreams Unlimited Travel will not accept the reservation.

We at Dreams Unlimited Travel feel that as a professional courtesy to others in our industry we will not actively pursue bookings currently made with other TA's.

Thanks
John

Mark and Sandra...You can though ask All Seas to release your booking back to DCL and then switch it to Dreams.

Also, Does anyone know the discount offered and on board credit for the 4 day cruises?

Hi All

I just want to make it clear that Dreams Unlimited Travel is in no way suggesting or encouraging anyone to ask their current TA to release their reservation so DU can take it over.

We at Dreams Unlimited Travel understand and appreciate the competition from other TA's. It is our policy to utilizing fair and ethical business practices in everything we do. We would never want to take bookings currently held by another travel agency.

Thanks
John

Webmaster John, or others who can answer this question:

What are the negatives of rebooking on the ship to get the 10% discount and $200 stateroom credit AND at the same time, telling Disney to blank out the previous travel agent name?

The positives I see are that I get the savings AND can get DCL to talk directly to me about the reservation, get the confirmations / mailings directly from them, etc. When I rebooked on board previously and had the booking assigned to a TA, Disney they didn't want to talk to me about the documents, adding a Romantic Escape spa package, etc. They told me I had to do all my dealings via the TA. I didn't see any benefit and thus told them to blank out the TA assignment when I rebooked again recently after another cruise. Am I missing something?

John- although I realize that you are not suggesting or encouraging me to ask my TA to release my ressie back to DCL, so that I can have DU take it over, I have 2 questions- First, do TA's get asks to do this often and will they if asked? Second, If my ressie was returned to DCL would I be able to switch to DU then? I'm asking you on these boards rather then thru e-mails so everyone can take advantage of any significant savings that might be available to them. Yes,I consider 225.00 enough of a savings to switch.
Cap- another positive is you wouldn't have my hassle to switch to Dreams for the additional rebates.

Mark and Sandra...I can answer your 1st question, YES you can ask a TA to release your ressie and they will, as I have done it, and my ressie is now with DCL and I am NOT planning to switch it to aother TA. So I can't answer your second question.

I had a problem with our local TA and after numerous requests they finally switched it back to DCL and I will now leave it with DCL.

Joanna

Thanks Mjasp- Hello from another Long Islander. The only problem with my current TA is that they will be 225.00 more expensive to me if I can't switch. They could offer to match the rebate, although I doubt they will.

Webmaster John ~

How confusing ~ thank you for clearing this up. I have never heard of transferring from one TA to another w/o first canceling, unless it was simply Disney to TA or TA to Disney.

~ Sandie

Mark and Sandra...Will you be able to keep the $200 on board credit by giving it to All Seas?

Hi Mark & Sandra

Didn't you just ask me this in email? ;)

Anyway, I cannot speak for all TA's but Dreams Unlimited Travel considers these on a case-by-case basis. If our client made the reservation directly with Disney Cruise Line initially (either through rebooking on the ship or some other means) we at Dreams Unlimited Travel will gladly release the reservation back to our client as we feel it is his/her reservation. If the reservation was made through having us research, price and secure the reservation then we will consider all the factors behind requesting the release and make a decision whether to turn the reservation over to DCL or cancel it and ensure all of our client's monies are refunded so they can rebook elsewhere.

I'm sure each TA has their own set of rules and internal policies for this so I encourage you to contact your current TA to find out what there's might be.

Before I answer your second question I want to clarify a point - Dreams Unlimited Travel is not in the business of soliciting existing cruise bookings away from any one source - whether that be another TA or DCL. It is our goal to secure new cruise reservations (as well as WDW and Disneyland reservations). The policy, however, is we can take over a reservation currently held with DCL and that reservation will be eligible for our current rebate promotion.

I hope this helps to answer your questions.

John

Mjasp- DCL kept my previous TA and tranferred my ressie to them along with my disc. and stateroom cerdit.

John-Yes, but I wanted it to be viewed here for all to see. As to my 2nd question, if I had asked AllSeaons to do any work for me then I would not be questioning moving my ressie around. I usually do my research first. In this case however AllSeasons was the benificiary by default. They did not have to do any work at all. I think I should have named this thread: If you rebook on the ship, make sure DCL is put as the lead agent so that you can take advantage of later discount without conflicts.

As for your policy of being able to take over a ressie from DCL and, that ressie will be eligible for your rebate promotion, I do understand and thank you for further clearing up my mistake.

John,

What a crazy business you are in!!

I have a totally different question. I have an incentive debit card (Master Card) that is good only at about 150 places. I get this debit card becasue I am in sales and if I do certain things vendors put deposits $$$$$$ on the card. One of them is DCL. If I were to switch my ressie over to Dreams Unlimited, when I paid my bill would I be paying you (Dreams Unlimited) or DCL? If I need to pay Dreams Unlimited the card would be rejected...if I were paying DCL it would be accepted.

I hope this is clear...I have never used a TA except DCL

Hi Disneylover5

Crazy, perhaps - but we get to go on the Disney Cruise alot ::yes::

Anyway - Dreams Unlimited Travel does not accept payment and/or charge your credit card directly. All payments are made directly to DCL for your protection.

It would be up to DCL if they were to accept this form of payment or not. From what you are saying you already looked into this and they do, so that should not be a problem.

Thanks
John

Thanks John for the quick answer. As soon as I get my documentation from the criuse we booked while on the 1-24 Eastern I will e-mail you and see about switching it over to Dreams. I have heard such nice things about your group....:)

Okay now I'm REALLY confused....
You cannot modify the dates or and you cannot add any additional stateroom credits to your ressie.

huh?
I thought I read on another thread where a person said they booked onboard for Dec 2005- way before those dates were released (are they even NOW? Well they definitely weren't at that time, that's for sure) and when asked about it- they said they actually booked it for an earlier date in 2005 but would switch it to Dec 2005 soon as that date came out.
??
So how are they doing that- if you can't modify the dates? This makes a HUGE difference in whether or not we'll be able to rebook onboard- as I thought we could rebook onboard and change the dates later on if I realized the dates were not compatible with school breaks/vacation dates and such. I'm not sure I will rebook if once doing so you are STUCK with that date... might not be worth the time/energy to book it to just cancel it later on since dates can't be modified!

Bibbiddy, I assure you that you most definitely can change the dates and retain your shipboard credit. I did this with our January cruise. We originally were going to cruise in December. When we saw that it conflicted with our being able to get our daughter home for her winter break, we made the change and still got our $200.00 credit.

You also will get the discount carried over, but that part can vary as Disney can exclude certain dates. It would depend on the new date that you select.

Adding new shipboard credits on top of your existing offer won't work no matter if you change your dates or not. Disney provides them and they do not allow them to be combined.

I know that I've mentioned it before, but shipboard credits and rebates are two entirely different things. In the case of Dreams, since they provide the rebate, it's not affected by Disney's SBC policy.

I second Regina's statement. You WILL still get your stateroom credit, I had to switch my ressie and my shipboard ressie is still there.

Hello John,
I haven't had the pleasure to book with DU for any cruises simply b/c Norm and I haven't been able to get away long enough and Norm hasn't stayed well long enough to get away, BUT I WILL TELL YOU THIS ONE THING. if and when we do get to go, I would go Dreams Unlimited all the way - reasons? I find DU to be founded on all the foundations that I try very hard to practice at my shop and that is quality (not quanity), respect, honest, and most of caring for the patrons AND employees. I find those that I have met with Dreams Unlimited to go many many times over the edge and many are not aware of the amount of kindness that has been done behind the scenes and done without any expectations of rewards. I would recommend DU over anyone and nope these are my own feelings and nope there is no compensation for saying this.
I just know for a fact, DU is a TA with a heart and conscience.
In this world, what more can we ask for.
Much love
always
shirley
