If you rebooked on ship and didn't use DreamsUnlimited, now may be the time to switch

On my 1st cruise 1/17/04, I researched a lot of TA's to get the best price and eventually booked with AllSeasons for a savings of 610.00. While onboard I rebooked and received a 10% discount and a 200.00 stateroom credit. I asked that my previous TA (AllSeasons) handle the ressie and thought that I did O.K. After reading someone's post about transferring my ressie to DreamsUnlimited for additional savings, I contacted Dreams about this and they told me that I can qualify for additional rebates by switching my ressie to them. In my case it would get me another 225.00 back. If you think you got a good price from rebooking while aboard, here's a chance for more savings.

I was the first one to tout the other company because they beat all the other TA's by so much, but fair is fair and if Dreams can start competing on price and beating other volume buyers then maybe its about time we start spreading the word!

I don't quite understand how you got your extra discount. I am going on a 7 night cruise in May and I will more than likely re-book another cruise for next year to receive the $200 on-board credit. So what you are telling me, is, that I can re-book on the cruise, and come home and transfer my reservation to dreams unlimited and still receive my $200 on-board credit and the reservation through DREAMS UNLIMITED will be cheaper?

Are you saying you rebook on board... get the stateroom credit from Disney for doing so- yet have it go through DU (or transfer to them later) and get DU's stateroom credit ALSO... in addition to the stateroom credit you already have for rebooking with Disney while onboard? you don't lose that by transfering to DU later?

NO I DON'T THINK YOU LOSE THE $200 STATROOM CREDIT BOOKING WITH DREAMS, ONLY ALL SEAS, AS THEY ARE A DISCOUNT TA. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.

Huh? Allseas is a TA just like DU.... if they were considered a "discount" TA then they would always be cheaper than DU- which they aren't as many have posted here that DU are cheaper at times.
So I don't see why you'd lose the stateroom credit with Allseas but not with DU?

Just to clarify, Dreams offers a rebate that's applied to your final payment. This is completely different from the stateroom credits that Disney offers.

I think that some of you are getting the two confused. Since Disney provides shipboard credits, their policy is one offer per stateroom. Dreams rebates are independent of Disney and do not cancel out the SBC when a reservation is booked onboard and assigned to them.

regina, I understand that they are different, BUT I am pretty sure I read somewhere that All Seas cannot give the stateroom credit that DCL offers if you transfer the ressie to them, since their prices are lower.

I'm confused too- which is why I'm asking if you get to keep the stateroom credit when you transfer to a TA (and allseas, DU, etc. are all considered the same as travel agents- they can't refuse to let you keep the stateroom credit if you transfer to allseas yet let you keep it with DU- that makes no sense to me whatsoever... so I'm just asking if you transfer to a TA in general- do you get to keep the stateroom credit?)

Also, I thought at times DU has offered stateroom credits- not just rebates. So now I'm really confused....

My understanding is as follows:
All Seasons does "group bookings" and as such you do NOT get your OBC transferred. However I found that their price was still lower than D.U. when I worked both out.
The group bookings is what makes the difference in All Season's lower prices, BUT in turn you lose the OBC. I lost the $200 OBC but my savings was considerably higher so I just had to put out less cash then but didn't have an onboard credit when I got onboard.
It IS very confusing and had to have it explained to me a couple of times before it sunk in. I probably still have some of it wrong but for me it is good.
I booked my 2005 cruise with All Seasons and when I am onboard next month I'm going to check and see what my price will be for the same cruise with onboard credits and savings. I'll compare and go from there.

Well now I'm back on and I'll try to explain. If you book another cruise while onboard, your Travel agent is Disney cruise lines. They offer you a deal consisting of a 10% discount AND a 200.00 per stateroom credit.(If you book more then 1 stateroom you get a credit in each stateroom). Now it gets tricky, Disney Cruise Lines allows you to assign your previous TA as the lead agent handling your ressie from here on out at the price and with the credits you just received. You cannot modify the dates or and you cannot add any additional stateroom credits to your ressie. Now for the payoff, Dreams Unlimited has an offer to give you a rebate(not a statroom credit). A money back offer to put it better, if you switch your ressie that you currently have with either DCL or the TA you asked them to assign it to. In order for you to get the same deal from your current TA, they'd have to match Dreams offer of a rebate. I rebooked 2 rooms while on board and when I switch I'll qualify for a total of 225.00 in rebates.

fast43- Rebooking onboard will get anyone/everyone a 10% discount and a 200.00 stateroom credit. You can let DCL be the lead, or let another TA be the lead and then switch it . Any way you do it; If Dreams winds up as your lead agent you can qualify for their additional REBATE.( not to be confused with a discount or stateroom credit)

Hey Grumbo- I did the same thing. In my case the price DCL quoted me while onboard was higher before the 10% disc. was applied. This discounted price was a few dollars cheaper then AllSeasons posted prices.(I checked the net while onboard) add on the 200.00 stateroom credit and they are much better then booking directly with AllSeasons. Allseasons is my TA and by booking onboard and letting DCL transfer my ressie to Allseasons I thought I had the best of both worlds. Now if I transfer my ressie to Dreams I can still keep all my pricing and additionally qualify for a rebate that they offer thus further lowering my rate.
In order for this deal to work for your upcoming cruise in 2005, You might have to book a new cruise and cancel the old one, this would get you your discount and credit and then switching to Dreams would get you a rebate. All of which you now do not have.

We'll have to see what the price is while onboard.
All Seasons have been very good to me and I have a loyalty to Chuck Maida and Sandie, the agent I have been dealing with. I see the price I paid has already increased over $500 since I booked the March 2005 cruise last year so I'm not so sure that I can beat what I already have while onboard but will check.

I figure I WILL have to cancel my initial cruise IF I get a better deal but it will have to be more than a few bucks before I'd switch.

Just a point of clarification - Dreams Unlimited Travel will not accept reservations currently held by another Travel Agency.

We do not feel that this is an ethical business practice and we will not actively look to take bookings that are already made with another TA.

If you rebooked on the ship and designated another TA, or were previously booked with another TA and did not actively remove them from your new booking with Disney Cruise Line, Dreams Unlimited will not accept that reservation.
