If you only have half a day: DHS or AK and why?

This is with an almost 5 y.o. boy and 3 adults. The rest of the time we're spending in Epcot (1 day) and MK (2 days).

I guess it depends on if the 5 year old likes and is able to go on the thrill rides. DHS has Star Tours which my non-thrill riding son loves as well as Tower of Terror and Rockin Roller Coaster. If you plan to get there early in the day, it is probably worth going to DHS just for Toy Story Mania. (We go in 3 weeks to try it ourselves!)

AK is very spread out so it may be harder to cover in your time frame. But again, you could get there early for the Safari, Kali Rapids & It's Tough to be a Bug and the Lion King & Nemo Shows.

Boy, I didn't help much did I? I guess it really depends on what your family is most interested in ....

DHS is our least favorite park and we now spend a full day at least at AK. However, with that being said, you have a young boy who, not knowing how tall he is and how many "thrill rides" he can do, might find more at the Studios to do. There is the Indiana Jones stage show, Beauty & the Beast, Little Mermaid, Great Movie Ride, the car stunt show, the new Toy Story Mania. At AK, you have the Safari, Dinosaur, Primevil Whirl and other kiddie ride by Dinosaur (can't remember the name), the walking path for the animals, the Lion King and other shows, plus It's Tough to be a Bug

I'd do AK just because I've never been and I'm sure my two boys would enjoy that more so than DHS. My oldest (9 1/2) is really into nature and animals, so I think he'd get a great kick out of it. Since we live in Southern CA, there's always Universal, so they wouldn't miss much.

With a not quite 5 year old, I'd pick AK hands down (unless you know that he's unusually daring and will definitely want to do Tower of Terror. He's probably not tall enough for Rockin' Roller Coaster). There's a lot more for young kids to do at AK, and it's small enough that you can do most of it in half a day. Even without young kids, I'd probably pick AK because I just like it a lot more.
