I have to call DS's Algebra teacher this morning and I am afraid I might just loose my temper!! :earseek: Kirk did fairly well in math the first 2 marking periods, but we won't even discuss what he did for the 3rd marking period!! (I already feel my blood pressure rising!). After the report card, long lectures, some grounding, I hoped I had reached my son about the importance of this class. I called the guidence office about a week into the quarter and asked her if I could get an "early" progress report for Kirk, just to be sure that I did reach him. I told her I didn't want any surprises when the 4th quarter progress reports were issued. She contacted all his teachers and submited my request. I received in the mail a report from all the teachers, except one....MATH! I called her back and asked since the teacher didn't feel the need to send me one, everything was going well. She seemed to agree that all was well with the world. :D Well, the progress report came home....and for some reason, Kirk has only been getting half credit for all his homework this marking period. :earseek: Kirk said the teacher NEVER said anything to him about there being any problem with his homework. Wouldn't you think that something would of been said to either him or me that it wasn't being done! IF he would of send home the report early like I had asked, everything would be ok now.

Oh man, that made my blood boil just reading this.

I had a lot of problems with math teachers during my formative years. It is disconcerting because Math needs you to have signficant self confidence and this is undermining Kirk's.

Give 'em hell! I think any parent should do this if they feel their child is being wronged - my Mom did and it helped tremendously - it didn't hurt at all as it was also brought to the principal's attention.

Let it rip!! LOL I'd feel the same way! I know how hard Kirk has been trying!!

Uh-oh! Always quiet isnt going to be quiet today. ;)
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Instead of getting answers, I'm left with more questions!!! :earseek:

First, this teacher tells me that he never knew I had requested an early progress report. Funny, the other teachers all knew about it! I told him he was more than welcome to talk to the guidence office and ask them. Unfortunately, this is the least of my concerns. :(

I questioned him on why Kirk is only getting half credit for his homework. He tells me it's because he only hands it in once or twice a week. :earseek: This totally floors me!! I know for a fact that he DOES the homework! I have the kids do their homework in the living room and I check to see that it's done! What would possess my son to actually DO the work but not turn it in for credit???? Since Kirk is supposed to see him at lunch today, I asked him to ask where all the missing assignments are. I also asked that if Kirk can't produce this missing work, can he get all the missing assignments and re-do them and hand them in from credit. He said he would accept everything and give him full credit for it. If Kirk can't find this work, you do know what he will be doing this holiday weekend!! :bounce:

One other thing really concerns me. Kirk told me he was going to see this teacher at lunch everyday. I have even had his sister question her friend to ask her brother whether Kirk is in the cafeteria at lunch time (her friend's brother is friends with Kirk). According to this friend, ke is not in the cafeteria so I assumed he was with the teacher. The teacher tells me he has seen Kirk twice. :confused3 So...if he's not having lunch and he's not with the teacher.......where the heck is he???!!!! :scared1:

I don't know what to think. Kirk is not a bad kid....even the math teacher says how nice he is. I don't know whether someone is taking his work and turning it in as thier own, don't know where he is going (or maybe if this friend is lying?)....I just really have a headache right now!! I aksed the math teacher to sign his agenda to prove to me that he saw Kirk today....and made it clear that if he comes home and it's not signed, I will have the orthodonist leave the cement in his mouth today (he gets the impression taken for his retainer!)

KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:sad2:  :sad1: :scared1: :headache: :faint:
