most upscale/luxurious?

We were planning to stay at the DLH or GC but have decided to go on a cruise as well so we have to budget a bit (Budget is a 4 letter word) :lmao:

So what is the absolute nicest place to stay other then the 3 Disney Hotels?

Thanks.

I was looking at Candy Cane, it looks motel-ish, if you know what I mean. I am at a total loss on what to pick.

It is a motel, but it is very clean and quiet. The beds are very comfortable and you can choose from standard, deluxe or premium rooms. Free continental breakfast is included and they offer a free exclusive shuttle to the parks.

It really depends on what kind of amenities you are looking for. Candy Cane is no frills. The pool and jacuzzi are small and there's no lounge or restaurant on premises.

It depends on what you are looking for. My family always stays at DLH but we are trying to save money because we are taking DMIL. We were upset about losing out on the unlimited MMs. We wanted the closest possible hotel and we chose the Tropicana. We are booking through Getawaytoday because they are giving us an extra MM entrance.
Make a list of what you are looking for and fill in the blanks

I've stayed at the Hyatt Regency and it was pretty nice. It isn't right near the park, but has a dedicated shuttle it shares with just one other hotel. I got a great Priceline rate. I've seen lots of others who've gotten great Priceline rates there, too.

Does anyone happen to have the links for Candy Cane and HoJo?

Thank you in advance n :)

The big problem with going with the "nicest" offsite hotel is that non of the nice off site hotels are walk distance. Everything that is walking distance is going to be a bit older, and more motelish (is that a word? LOL!). If you want nice you are going to give up being close and have to either drive to the parking structure or depend on a shuttle to get to and from. Both of those options eat up a lot of time.

For us we are willing to give up being in a upscale hotel so that we can be close and have more time in the parks. We spend very little time at the hotel anyway.

For a good close property I vote for the candy cane (www.candycaneinn.net). Its close, well kept, affordable, and has a nice shuttle if you dont feel like walking, but is walking distance if you dont want to be tied to someone elses schedule.

I agree with hlbtimes2. If I want upscale I stay onsite. Giving up being close, is too much of a sacrifice for luxury!

Hojo's is another really nice place to stay, within walking distance. Feels more like a hotel since it has actual enclosed hallways. Everyone raves over it, and it's at a good price.

Most of the upscale off site places I wouldn't even consider budget prices either. For some, a little more and you could stay at the PP!

My absolute favorite hotel (if I can't stay at the DLH and since they no longer offer the $89 AP rate, that's a big UH UH) is the Lemon Tree. LOOOOOOVE this hotel!! It's not "ritzy" but it feels like it to me! Beautiful rooms, gorgeous grounds, the owners are AMAZING and the staff is excellent. It's about a 5 minute drive to DL (no shuttle but maybe ART picks up there? I have no idea!) and across the street are my favorite tea shop (Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf), the best donut/pastry shop I have ever encountered (Georgies) and the cleanest KMart I never thought existed. Our next trip we aren't staying there (SAD!!! :guilty: ) but only because we are going with a HUGE party and we really need to be within walking distance. You can check them out at www.anaheimhotels.tv.

:-D

The trip report in my signature is from our last stay there and has photos of the grounds.

we always stay at the ramada maingate. well one time we did carosuel and not going to talk bad about a hotel but there rooms are tiny when you get 2 adults and 3 kids in them. i figure a hotel is where you sleep and when i'm only getting 5-6 hours a nightany bed is better than no bed. yeah it's a little walk but when i can add a couple extra days to a trip versus dlh its well worth it.
