IE: offer to pay for someone meal next to you at the table?

Just wondering.

We've done it with Snack Credits and I don't think it would be a problem with CS-you could just order for the other people. As far as TS, again, if you knew you were going to do it ahead of time (before the order was made) I don't think it would be a problem. I've never seen anyone do it but how generous of you to think of it. :goodvibes

Happy Dining!

I agree. Just be careful, though...I've seen post where at the end of the vacation, a poster had just handed their card over with credits still on them to other guests. They didn't think about their credit card being linked to it also until they had gotten back! Luckily, I don't think they had a problem, but it's something to consider.

For the record, a few times we were too full to eat dessert we had ordered. We always found a happy family to pass untouched dessert off to in those cases. :goodvibes

Actually, I don't have the free dining, I was just wondering what would happen with the extra credits. If it was me, I'd hate to see them wasted.

From the brochure:
The Disney Dining Plan may not be sold separately, transferred, refunded or redeemed for cash in whole or in part.

But, "buying" the meals for someone else is not the same as transferring the plan, you are "buying" but the food is given to someone else, which you certainly can do.

You are transferring the plan to someone not on the plan. You cannot purchase TS meals for guests not on the plan.

Sorry, I was thinking of counter service or snack. How would anyone know the difference as to who eats it?

Actually, we were on the receiving end of such an offer last winter! We were just seated at Whispering Canyon and a waitress came over and said that a gentleman left his credits to give away at her discretion. He wanted to see them go to families of military, if possible. Well, DH is military (and looks the part!) and the waitress asked if he was a member of the military. She said that our dinner (app, entree and dessert) were free! She said we were to order what we wanted! Our kids still talk about that meal, since they never get a "free for all" when they order! We usually split meals, so the kids (we have teenagers) couldn't believe they got to order whatever they wanted! It was a lot of fun, I just wish we could have thanked the person that so generously left them!

We just did this on Friday. We had two CS credits left. We had a big TS lunch that day. So for a snack we used a CS credit (it was our last day) We got a hot dog, fries, drink and dessert. DD and I only wanted a handfull of fries DS and DH split the hot dog and we all shared the drink. We did not want the dessert so I offered it to the guy in front of me and he was more than happy to take it. That still left us with 1 CS credit so DH went up to someone and told him we were leaving and were on the dinning plan and had 1 credit left and that we could get his lunch for him. :thumbsup2

Did it last year. The lady in front of me at ASMo food court was getting a meal & digging in her purse for money and I knew we had extra CS, so I asked the cashier to put it on our dining plan. Cashier said sure and made sure the lady got dessert and a drink with her food. It felt nice and I hope it spread some magic to her vacation.

I think that's a great idea!
Only 5 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think giving away credits to other people is worse than using a child credit for a adult meal.

Why? I think people get so caught up in the "enforcement" of the rules to the letter than common sense is lost. I do not see anything wrong with buying food for someone else to use credits that you are entitled to. Apparently, as Disney does not seem to be really into enforcing this aspect of the rule, they seem to understand that there are exceptions to every rule. To me, transferable means that you cannot transfer credits from your cards to somone else's cards. It does not mean that you cannot let someone else eat your food. Maybe when the big seagull comes and steals a couple of fries from my hand, we should turn them in to the Disney food police as we are "transfering" a portion of our credits to another..ummm..thing?

Think it's time to stop and suggest that only Disney can really answer this one.
