How was it there? DH and I are going for just a couple days Thanksgiving week. It was kinda spur of the moment. This is the first (and probably only) year we have had annual passes, and we have never seen Christmas time at Disneyland. We thought we would try to get our full money's worth out of our AP and go again. Anyway, since we are trying to save some money, we are staying off property. I'm totally bummed we can't stay at the Grand (my favorite) but the cost difference between the 2 is paying for our airfare! YIKES! Anyway, how was the Embassy Suites South? How was the shuttle? We won't have a car and I don't want to walk that far. Is breakfast packed? Any info about the Embassy Suites South would be great since we have never stayed there before. Thanks!

We stayed there in 2009 and loved it. It is too far to walk though. We did that on a non park day (walked from there to DTD). It would be way too much when you add walking in the park. And we are walkers. (Although maybe because we walk so much in the parks, it is just too much).

If you want to walk over, I suggest Candy Cane Inn. They also have a free shuttle, free breakfast (good, but not as fancy as Embassy). It takes us about 10 minutes to walk over.

We stayed there in January. We also loved it! The rooms are not super modern and luxurious, but they are huge and have more than everything you will need.

The breakfast is EXCELLENT. It's by far the best "free" breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. For a family of 5 that free breakfast sure helps keep our budget down! It does get pretty crowded in the mornings, but we never had any trouble finding tables to eat at or anything like that.

There's a Target across the street which is great to pick up some drinks and stuff to keep in the fridge in your room.

The hotel itself it not within walking distance, (well you could walk there, but I don't think you would want to after being in the parks all day) but the shuttle is easy and quick. Not an issue as far as I'm concerned. We are staying there again when we go in May, we liked it that much! For us, the huge rooms and great breakfast are too good to pass up.
