Cali wasn't scared of it, she was fascinated by it. She too runs to watch it sweep when she hears it going off. Simba was a little more leery of it, when I showed it to him the first time he ran from it, but he is better now. I have the mega plus, it hasn't jammed. Clumps of litter do get stuck on the combs though, but that is because Cali is always going right on them.

At first my cat would use the box, then when the rake would run through she'd run up the steps to watch it, once it was done she'd go right back in the box and set it off again, and do this over and over. She was a VERY busy cat the first week we had it. She now realizes that it takes her mess away and I think she rather enjoys it, but she still runs to watch it every time it goes off. I don't think she was ever scared of it though. My mom has one also, with two of the biggest chicken cats in the world, and they don't mind it either.

My Wedge is the biggest chicken-cat in the world (scars from abuse, unfortunately - he won't go near human males ) and he was afraid of the noise at first. Once he got used to it and figured out its "pattern", he was fine, though.

Stimpy, your sister should've offered both the old box and the new until they got used to it. Maybe it would've worked out better.

Curly Q - that is a great idea. Where do you get your bags on a roll? How exactly do you put them in/on so that they don't get stuck anywhere. I do like tricia and use the plastic bags from the grocery store but that is pain to pour into. I've dumped the container on the floor before b/c the bag wouldn't stay open. I can't wait to try the 4gal trash bags.
