If you have a Disney (go.com) email address, do not open emails from staff@go.com

I got an official looking email from staff@go.com this morning that claimed that my email account was sending out a lot of spam. I carefully examined the attached file and it contained the Bagle virus. I forwarded the email to abuse@go.com, but thought it worth mentioning this faked email here on the CB.

Always, always, always be careful when openning any email with an attachment, even if it looks official.

I got a similar type email this weekend from a staff @rr.com address (I use RoadRunner) It was fake with a virus attached and I did not open it.

Not on Bagle, but did get this update from one of my anti-virus protectants yesterday...........
Madrid, April 6 2004 - PandaLabs has detected the appearance of the new 'C'
variant of the Bugbear worm. Given the enormous propagation of its
predecessor, Bugbear.B, in June 2003, and in order to prevent incidents with
the new variant, users are advised to treat all e-mails received with
caution.

Bugbear.C is a worm that is sent out by e-mail to all addresses it finds in
the Outlook address book of the infected computer, as well as those that it
finds in files with the following extensions: .ODS, INBOX, .MMF, .NCH, .MBX
.EML, .TBB, and .DBX. The message that carries the worm has the following
characteristics:

Your News Alert
Hi!
!!! WARNING !!!

- It has an attachment with either a .zip or .htm extension.

Bugbear.C terminates security programs -including antivirus solutions- and
stops them from running, in both PCs and corporate environments, leaving
victims defenseless against further attack from other threats.

Due to the risk of being infected by Bugbear.C, Panda Software advises users
to treat all e-mails received with caution and to keep their antivirus
software updated. The company has already made the updates to its products
available to its clients to ensure their solutions can detect and eliminate
this worm. Similarly, users can also detect and disinfect these and other
malicious code using the free, online antivirus, Panda ActiveScan, which is
also available on the company's website at http://www.pandasoftware.com.

:hyper: One of the subject fields is COWS, thats funny, who would click on that!?

I'm glad you are the computer whiz that you are, TC, and that you knew not to open it. A computer virus is just what you DON'T need in your house right now. Thanks for warning the rest of us.

You are scheduled to be in surgery right now, and I'm thinking about you and praying for you as I write this.

Krista :)

THanks for the head's up guys. I've gotten one from staff@yahoo and another from Disney as a survey. That one had some pretty funny symbols in it.
