Hi
Trying to compile a list of contracts that DVD exercises their option on compared to what broker was the lister.
So if disney took your contract in the past 2-3 years who was the broker of the listing?

Thanks
Dave Goofydad Dionne

PS I am trying to keep busy as our contract goes thru the ROFR process  I am not a good at waiting

Dave, I don't think broker has anything to do with ROFR, if gets proved, disney will be in deep trouble.

probably not but after reading another thread about different opinions about ROFR and brokers I thought I would see if there is any trend and like i said I am trying to kill time as I wait for my contract to go thru the ROFR process.

If we had the extra money and i was not a frugal yankee I would buy direct just to skip the anxiety I am feeling from this but we could not afford to go thru Disney direct anyway.

Thanks
Dave

We got ROFR'd around March 25th I think Fidelity. That week Fidelity told me that had a large number of contracts taken back. I was selling a contract through TSS and it passed on the 27th. I called my broker at TSS to see if they had any BWV pass and at what price (I was bidding on another contract) and was told they had 15 BWV contracts taken that week as high as 69.00PP and many others taken also - they had one BWV pass that week at 60.00PP. Since that 2 week time frame the ROFR'd has slowed down - not back to normal but slowed down.

Two Fidelity contracts with different results

60 pt OKW, Disney exercised ROFR on 4/15
200 pt BCV, Disney waived ROFR on 4/29

Unfortunately, the data will not tell you if Disney likes to ROFR from any particular broker. Only which broker let their owner/seller set lower prices that may trip the ROFR process. You may consider doing this again but as a poll and request that only ROFR'ed people take the poll. Then you don't have to crunch the numbers...

There is pros and cons going direct, you get full point, uy you want and # of point you want, with full benefit. On the other hand, resell may be you can have for cheaper price but comes with all the gimmicks.

But you're also assuming ROFR is based centrally on price. The past month or so has pretty conclusively shown Disney has criteria other than price that plays a crucial role in the process.

That's true, from what i have been reading they have an extensive waiting list for certain UYs. I would imagine if you are trying to buy a resale contract that happens to have that wait list UY and it isn't a bad price...then ROFR and that guy on the wait list gets his contract.

Absolutely. This has always been my belief.
If you look at the ROFR thread that was maintained by Donald is #1, there seems to be no rhyme or reason, other than this.

And yet, we've seen Disney have two contracts under consideration side by side and take the more expensive per-point contract, while letting the lower-priced one go through. The bottom line is you can't outspend ROFR. Pay what you believe the contract is worth and if it gets taken, move on to the next. Disney doesn't have the cash to buy back everything.

This is a weak argument in my opinion. All of the resale contracts I have bought have had two year's worth of points and most had close to three. You can choose to buy a stripped contract if you would like, but to make a blanket statement that resales don't have full points is incorrect. As for "gimmicks" I'm not sure what you mean. But resale contracts can be used to book stays at DVC resorts the same as direct contracts. That is what DVC is for, all things being equal.

You'd think this is true, but it actually isn't. Many times in the ROFR firestorm of the past few months we have seen contracts pass at very good prices for UY and point sizes that others have posted they were on the wait list for. There is so much about ROFR we don't know.
