If you had two weeks in the USA but you had to do NYC

Bit of Friday afternoon fluff, what would you do if you only had two weeks to spend in the USA and you had to include NYC for 4 nights? My best friend *might* be getting married in NYC next November. I'm not really sure I can afford to go, and DH might be changing jobs in which case he'd be coming to the end of a 12 month paid academy style course so probably wouldn't be able to come. I'd probably travel with another girlfriend if I did end up going alone so just dreaming about what we might do if we went. I love WDW but think I'd really like to see Nashville and think friend would want to do Vegas so thinking we wouldn't have enough time to do WDW justice (I have been once before).

Totally just a general what would you do question out of interest. Let's be honest, all of us here love to plan don't we?! Haha!

My first thought is 4 nights NYC, 2 nights Nashville, 4 nights Vegas & 4 nights LA (Disney fix!!!) but that's really just a first reaction with no discussion between DH, friend getting married, other friend etc! Lol

Whether the trip happens or not, there is no harm in dreaming. I'm doing a lot of that myself at present

Your 2 week plan sounds like fun. If it was just me and a girlfriend travelling, I think Vegas would be high on my wishlist. It's such a fun place to visit.

After planning my current trip which began because of a wedding my questions would go, do you want most of your trip before the wedding or after, what is the most flexible/cheap use of flights. What events are on when? Is their a vegas show you particularly want to see? What dates are those? What is Disney LA's schedules like on the dates you plan? Do you want to see Fantasmic/WOC/Fireworks? Do these fit with your dates?

If you're going to be on the east coast anyway, I would absolutely try to include Washington DC.

I would dream about NYC, Nashville, New Orleans and DLR. And if the trip was close to Thanksgiving, I would be extending time for Black Friday sales.

Wanderlust we spent too much time in Vegas last time for my liking but think if enjoy 3-4 days again.

Hmm based on potential wedding date (2nd week November) the rest of the trip would probably have to be before NYC as my boss has already organised leave for the 16th Nov onwards so I have to be back at work. I'm also not allowed more than 2 weeks off.

Events is a good point, will definitely look them up when the dates get closer.

Probably won't have much flexibility with the international flights as I'll have a small window to travel in so praying the prices are reasonable!!

Washington is a good suggestion, not sure it's somewhere potential travel partner would be interested in ( and it'd be her first trip to the US) but I'll definitely bring it up with her.

I think Nashville is my must do and ideally I'd get a Disney fix somewhere in there, can't go all that way and not!!

I've not been to Disneyland, only WDW, are the fireworks etc only on certain nights?? I'll definitely look into DL more if we think we'll go there, I always figured I'd go to WDW again next time but one with a right timeframe I'll definitely look more into DL.

Been to Nashville twice and HIGHLY recommend it! So much history (Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Ryman and the Opry, Tennessee State Museum, the Hermitage, Belle Meade, Frist Museum, the Bluebird etc), beautiful landscapes and parks, lots of really cool/delicious food places (Pancake Pantry and Loveless Cafe). Personally I would spend more time there than in Vegas. Unless you want to go outlet shopping, I don't think you need more than 2 nights in Vegas. It gets old pretty quickly. 2 nights in Nashville however is definitely not enough, I'd probably stay 3 at minimum.

Thanks ! I'm a big country music fan so that's really my sole reason for desperately wanting to get to Nashville. Sounds like a pretty place though which is nice to know. We'd definitely be doing some outlet shopping but perhaps we could do 3 nights Nashville and 3 Vegas.

At non-peak times the fireworks and F! only show on weekend nights at DLR (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). WOC is on every night. There might be a different schedule around Thanksgiving though so it's probably worth checking out the historic hours for November if you're thinking of going.

With only 2 weeks in the US, I would look at spending 3 days at DLR including one of those weekend nights. One full day for DL, one full day for DCA, and one extra day to catch things you've missed/re-visit favourites. If you need to, you can do F! and the fireworks in one night, and you could see WOC on one of the other nights. If you're running short on time, 2 days would be enough to give you a Disney fix and a small taster of DLR.

Hmm I would be tempted by Boston, Washington DC, and the New Orleans area. I really haven't researched the east coast much at all. I'm sure I'd find plenty more that appealed if I looked into it!

Boston isn't somewhere that neccessarily appeals to me generally but DC and New Orleans both do! So many places to see, so little time. This will be my last trip before having kids so future trips will be quite different I imagine!
