If you had to pick one...

...which would you choose? I know that everyone's opinion differs, but I'm curious what everyone has to say.

At MGM would you choose 50's Prime Time Cafe or the Sci-Fi Drive In?

It would be for dinner (if that makes a difference!)

And why?

Thanks!

Sci Fi tends to not get great reviews on these boards. However, I love both Sci Fi and 50's PTC. We try to eat at both places on each trip.

However, if I just had to choose 1, it would be 50's PTC. I love the atmosphere there and if you get a great server, playing "their part" well, it can really be a blast.

However, I really do feel you can't go wrong with either choice.

We have not eaten at Sci-Fi but always make it a point to go to 50's Primetime on each of our trips. We are actually in the planning stages of our next trip and making ADRs. When I asked for input from DH and my 3 kids, they all said that 50's is a must do! We enjoy the home cooked style meals and the yummy desserts. The atmosphere cannot be beat and we always have fun with wait staff. Last time we had "Cousin Topher" and he was a riot! I definitely recommend this.

50's Prime Time all the way!! Loads of fun, atmosphere great and mouth watering good food!

Sci-Fi is ok. The first time I tried Sci-Fi it was absolutely horrible that Disney didn't charge us for the meal since we couldn't eat it. I swore I would never go back, but my husband wanted to try it again last August and it was decent, but not great like 50's.

I have only eaten at the 50's prime time. We loved it, we loved the atmosphere the food was great. the waitress there embarrassed the heck out of my husband when he wasn't eating his greens, she clapped and got everyones attention and made them do the airplane noise while she feed him his greens. but despite that he wants to go back it was great

You definatley have to go to both for the atmosphere. 50's really depends on the server, ive had people go all out and others that just take your order. Both places have mediocre food imo, the atmosphere makes it worthwhile.

I was 11 years old the first time I ate at the Sci-Fi, and even at that age I could tell the food wasn't the greatest, but you go there for the experience, not for fine dining.

Thanks for the responses! We're spending a day at MGM and so we needed to find a TS restaurant for dinner. I have a reservation for 50's Prime Time but I was just wondering what others would choose.

Now I just have to find a CS meal for MGM! :)

The food was fine, and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. It was about the same quality as any Applebys or TGIFridays type place, but you get to sit in cars!!

We have done both many times, but love 50's PT. We only go to Sci-Fi because DS likes the flicks and sitting in the car. The food is just so-so.

50's Prime Time has better food IMHO Sci-Fi has the really cute atmoshere and the food is OK... but I feel that it is a one shot deal. My husband had one request this year... can we eat at the place that he got really good pot roast? He claims that he dreams about Prime Time's pot roast.

We ate at both places on our last trip.

The atmosphere at Sci-Fi is a ton of fun, the food was good, but nothing really stood out. We had lunch there and would go back again if it fits in our plans

We had dinner at 50's and the food was very good. DH and I had fun looking at the decor - so much of it we recognized from our parents' and grandparents' homes! DH has requested this restaurant on our next trip.

If you're going for dinner, I'd choose 50's as you have more of a chance to interact with your family because of the seating arrangement. :chat:
